On a trip to Florence, Italy in 1983, Il Giardino founder Tony Gargiulo saw a wood burning oven and knew it would be the centerpiece for the soon-to-open restaurant. This is absolutely the WORST Italian restaurant ever. I was charged $16 extra for shrimp-not exaggerating. If I had known that, I wouldn’t have ordered it. What the hell. And I don’t even have words for how bad the food and wait staff was. Stay far away from this place.
Il Giardino is like family when I'm dining at the VBO. I sat at the bar with time to spare to order from the Happy Hour menu and minutes to order from the Twilight menu. While enjoying a Bud Light, dilly dilly, I decided on the eggplant rotini and veal parm from the respective menus. Food was great and just the right amount. Natasha and James took good care of me. Always good to hear Billy Batte's music in the background. His talent is a gift to Hampton Roads. I love this place. Dilly Dilly!
Food was excellent, nice cozy place. Waitress was a little slow and forgetful but the food and atmosphere as well as our family more than made up for it.
