When it opened in 1995, Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse was the first of its kind in the city and is among the oldest South Carolinian brew pubs. That is because brew-pubs were allowed in the state after a law was passed in 1994. Its rustic-cozy ambiance is accentuated by antique light fixtures, African tribal decorative elements and wooden furnishing. Awesome place ! Kid and dog friendly. Definitely an awesome neighborhood place!
Shit service. Food is great though. They have a “seat yourself” policy, which is fine if it wasn’t constantly jam-packed.

Super soft and warm pita bread with their (also yummy) hummus, and the shrimp & grits are phenomenal �� I don't think I could eat them any other way after this
This has been a favorite haunt of mine for 15+ years. The beer is excellent, the atmosphere cozy, the food great, and last but not least some of the best bartenders and servers in the city. You and your tastebuds will always be treated right at HG. �
