When it opened in 1995, Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse was the first of its kind in the city and is among the oldest South Carolinian brew pubs. That is because brew-pubs were allowed in the state after a law was passed in 1994. had a flight of all of the beers and there was absolutely no taste difference between any of them, how do you manage to make an ESB and Wheat taste the same is beyond me. the "bartender" was basically made of plastic and gave no customer service and the fake smile she gave was unsettling. Definitely not somewhere I'll be returning or telling people to visit when in Columbia, there are much better breweries with better staff elsewhere.
Good beers and the staff was awesome. The pizzas were excellent
The N.Y. strip was delicious and perfectly cooked! The potatoes did not come with any toppings so I asked for bacon and some cheddar cheese and they politely fulfilled that request. Although the potato serving size was about 4 tablespoons, it was delicious. The string beans were great, as well as the wheat beer! The atmosphere was mixed and the place itself had been fixed up nicely. I will return! I gave it a 4 start bc the plate just didn’t have big enough portions and I had to get tacos an hour later..
Portion size is very small.
Had a wonderful evening. Great food, service and a clientel you enjoyed being in a room with. Great place to bring or meet friends old and new.
Liked it.. was raining pretty hard .. but didn’t stop us from trying this new place.. place was great and service was awesome!!!! Oh food was food too! We will be back! Thanks for a great evening ..
