When it opened in 1995, Hunter-Gatherer Brewery and Alehouse was the first of its kind in the city and is among the oldest South Carolinian brew pubs. That is because brew-pubs were allowed in the state after a law was passed in 1994. Its rustic-cozy ambiance is accentuated by antique light fixtures, African tribal decorative elements and wooden furnishing. Appetizer was not served. Asked for my swordfish to be cooked completely. An hour later it was served uncooked in the middle.

Had a smoked brisket sandwich that was perfectly smoked and ridiculously tender. It came with coleslaw and their take on it is fantastic. Please pair this item with some baked grouper for one of your specials and let me know!

Had dinner on 10/19/19 and it was very disappointing. We were with a party of 8 and everyone’s food came out extremely sporadic. Two of us got the burger and you could literally play hockey with the burger. It was cold and tasted like it had been cooked at lunch. It was so burnt and dry. You couldn’t put enough catchup on it to swallow it. Everyone in our party left disappointed with our food.
