My tax preparer ******* ****** FAILED TO: file my taxes as I requested, communicate effectively with me despite my MANY efforts, and treat me as a valued customer. She made a mistake that has had adverse effects on my finances and although she admits it was her error, she has refuses to take any steps to make it right or even apologize. Can I give 0 stars? The H&R Block software is dated and not user-friendly. After about 6 hours of tedious data entry, we completed our Federal and State returns, and clicked to add "Professional Review," for safe measure. However, once we added the $80 feature to our cart and realized that the "Professional Review" would not cover the stock sales on our Return, we immediately decided to delete that feature and have another CPA firm review the taxes. NIGHTMARE!!! In March, I met with an H&R Block accountant, and provided nearly completed tax forms, with all necessary documentation and information. H&R Block is taking advantage of consumers. If you owe taxes and pay through the reccomended link in H&R Block software, pay1040, the fee for using a debit card is over 2% but if you go on to the actual pay104p site it is less...and if you go into ******* site, there are alternate pay sites that only charge $2.55 for using your debit card. Why doesn't H&R block tell you that they are making a percentage of your payment?!?! That's dishonest. It should be illegal to take advantage of people like that. "

We've been using HR Block tax preparation software for many years. This year, there was some sort of software glitch on the HR Block website and after completing both our federal and state returns, and paying for them, the software gave us an error message. The software returned an error generating the *** for our return, and won't let us e-file either (the problem is on HR Block's end, not our end as we can see all previous tax years on the website and had no issues e-filing in the past). Took my tax file to local H & R Block office on May 10. As of today, May 14, they are not completed. I have tried to call their office but cannot get through. I am out on hold for 25 minutes and then sent to a call center, where I get no help. I have had to drive 10 miles to their ************* office to try to get updates in two occasions and was promised that someone would get back to me. Still waiting for a follow-up call. Worst run organization in the country. If I could give them zero stars, I would.

I wish I would have read these reviews before going-I guess I will add my horror story to the list. I went in recently to have my taxes done, usually I do them myself but had an unusual 2020 and wanted a professional to take a look. The person incorrectly added an amount of money to my income that she should not have causing me to owe 20K in taxes. When I questioned the accuracy she insisted that she was right. This was at the *********, ** location and my first and last time with HR Block. I only went here because I moved and had to pay separate state taxes and felt better with professionals. Advice? Dont drop your taxes off at this place. I dropped my taxes off for two weeks because they dont seem to want to do a face to face appointment. Understandable.
