This was an incredibly frustrating experience. Like others who have reviewed recently, I too wish I had read these reviews before choosing this company but it wouldn't have mattered much because HR Block put most of the independent tax preparers in DC out of business already leaving very few options: I could have filed by myself or paid premium prices. If I could give a negative point review I would. My refund was lost along the way after it has been accepted. The customer service is absolute trash. When I called the first five times, my call was immediately ended after I mentioned "tax refund" without ever speaking to an actual representative. I had to lie about why I was calling to get a representative on the phone. The wait time was 1 hour.
Customer support is inept. They keep sending you to different departments. I wasted over 3 hours just waiting. No one helped. **** **** with them!!!
I purchased the premium software from H&R Block website for business taxes. installed the software and did my business taxes with great difficulty ( small business single owner business tax return) . the program continuously gives errors after audit but it does not offer any guidance or help in resolving the error. Finally finished the return and e-filed with ***. when I attempted to open the program to check the e-file status the program crashed. My friend recommended that I try using H&R for my taxes this year. A mistake I won't be repeating. I'm giving it two stars because my federal taxes actually went through. My state tax filing was rejected, however. The explanation for rejection offered by the site didn't match with the data on the form. There was a different error that the site wouldn't let me change, just kept sending me in circles. They take your tax documents and promise to do your return then never call you back and close down their phone lines. Nobody answers the phones and you have no way of getting in touch with the tax professional you were working with. Highly unprofessional.
DO *** FILE YOUR TAXES ONLINE WITH HR BLOCK!!!!!!I had a horrible experience with the online service. ******* ********* , made up that I owned two companies when in fact they were two vendors who paid me for services using a 1099 form. How can you make a mistake like that ? H&R Block fraudulently claims ******** 8962 is required to file taxes in 2021. It forces users to use the premium version to file this form, however on the subsequent screen acknowledges the form is not required in 2021 due to the ********************. Having automatically added its premium version to a consumers cart however, it will not provide the ability to remove that item and forces free users to pay for premium which it acknowledges is not necessary.
