We stay here for the 1st time on our 6th Anniversary and we were awakened to a 4 alarm fire in the middle of the night. Service was horrible.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Derek and look forward to coming back. The view of Houston is spectacular.
Hotel Derek is overrated. I stayed at this hotel with a large group for a friends wedding. When I first arrived, I was told by an employee that the elevators didn't work to the parking garage so I quickly turned around and decided to valet instead. A pair of my husbands Maui Jim sunglasses were left in the middle console throughout our stay. I noticed on the way home that they were no longer there. I booked at $161 per night but they raised the rate to $361 for the third night. Very nice staff. Great hotel for $161 but not more. Staff could not help I had to call reservations wait 20 minutes to be offered to cancel without a fine.
It was a nice place to stay really enjoyed my time there until I checked my bank account they put a 100 hold they said on my bank and that was false it was a 2500.00 hold and I'm not to happy about that. Also over charge me for my room and haven't received my money I was supposed to get back. I will not lie we had a really good time here but I will not be back because it messed with my money. I am disappointed that they didn't tell me about the hold on top of the 100.
I was very disappointed in my stay here. Beginning with the valet guy almost stopping my car in the middle of Westheimer when I was pulling into the hotel. Then he waved another car in front of me. It took forever to check it, and their shuttle driver had no idea where he was going - he kept asking me where to go. And this was NOT a free service because it was outside of their 3 miles radius. The room was big, but it was obviously old. I will not stay there again.
The spot to be nice and friendly hotel I've stayed twice never had a bad time
