We got charged $12 day plus tax for WiFi and a shuttle that we didn't use, because we weren't aware they had it. When we checked in no one told us about the shuttle, matter of fact they didn't give us any information on their amenities they had to offer. If I had known that we were getting charged for a shuttle I would've used it. Also it would've been an extra charge for a microwave or refrigerator to be provided in the room so our leftovers spoiled. Nice and spacious rooms. Service was great. The location was perfect for the places I was trying to go.
Really over rated...they need to be more up front about the extra charges. It's really bad when you pay almost 32.00 plus tax (a night) for valet parking..paged at 10:40 for our car didn't get it till 11:10...we had to help look for our keys they misplaced the key tag. The room on the other hand was ok...stayed in better! You're paying for the name!

Loved it. There was a false alarm set by one of the guest. That everyone outside at 4:45 am. Shame on them. Lol. Will definitely stay here again when I'm in Houston!!!

My first Stay at the Derek, I thought I was getting a pretty decent rate for my stay. I was quoted $110 at night after my AARP discount plus taxes.. Well to my surprise upon check out my total stay came to $144 plus a additional $22 plus tax for self parking. I questioned a additional $12 amenities charge, which they told me was for WIFI use! Are you kidding me who charges for that nowadays. And whats with this self parking charge? Too many hidden fees.. Can't say I would recommend the Derek nor would I prob stay there again... read more
