HostGator has been mostly fine for me. Their interfaces are easy enough to use and they support many technologies. As far as I can tell, uptime has been great and site speed is fast enough for most purposes. However, serving your site over https is a necessity these days, and they don't support LetsEncrypt for shared hosting, even though users have been asking for it for a long time. We were sorry to hear about the client's concern with the SSL Certificate that was purchased. With the purchase of an SSL there is a grace period where an SSL can be canceled with the SSL provider. We did reach out to the client and work with him to get this resolved with an amicable resolution.
If there is anyway to give a 0 star I would. For 2 straight days, my "cloud site" is down for maintenance and the poor support was unable to provide the timeline for completion. So does this mean "forever"? The business - please don't respond to this review saying that you have asked me for something and waiting for my response. These will all be a lie. Unfortunatley a regular scheduled maintatnce that would not normally affect clients on the server did not go as expected and did result in this taking much longer than expected to resolve. We were sorry to hear about the clients concern. There was an issue that was affecting the client's server which did take much longer than expected to resolve. These instances are rare as most maintenance is performed with little to no affect for the sites being hosted on any server there are those occasions that in order to protect the server and the data on the server services are interrupted as the underlying issue is addressed.
Several months after their 45 refund policy, I started experiencing hangs and slowness in my website. I contacted their support team about the issue, but they were unable to resolve the problem. Now I am stuck with more than 2 years of empty web space that I will will not use. Which, by the way, they completely removed what was my CPanel and website from existence. Hello, We were sorry to hear about the client's concern with his hosting and in reviewing the account did find that the hosting package had been incorrectly canceled rather than set to cancel at the end of the billing cycle. At this time we have contacted the client and provided a prorated refund for the remaining time on the hosting package that had been paid for and appreciate the client bringing this to our attention.
This business decided to reopen and charge an account that was closed two years prior. It was not requested to be reopened by me and they refused to give a refund.

A while back, I used them for website hosting. I had two domains but dropped one and kept the other. They did an automatic renewal for the one I didn't want anymore so I contacted customer service and told them not to auto renew my stuff, I want to do it manually. The customer service rep was pretty nice and gave me a free month of hosting so I thought they had pretty good customer service. I have read the complaints of many of these people. In every case it was something they did wrong and didn't follow policies and procedures. I have used the service for many years and every last issue I have had was my own doing. Horrible Experience working with this group. We have been with them since 2004. Since, support has went down here. Recently, we requested a backup restore on 10/26.. it is now 11/6 and this has not occurred. Chat support takes LONG breaks (20-40 minutes). Then we got a supervisor by the name of steven that said we had to simply wait. Not only that, but if I had a problem, I could talk to josh (i'm assuming he meant Joshua ******). This is horrible.
