HostGator is a total scam; their actions are shady all the way. They sold my phone number to every telemarketer in the country, billed me for three more months of web hosting that I didn't ask for five days prior to my renewal date, then promised a refund that I never received. I've had to cancel my debit card with my bank to make sure this fraudulent billing doesn't continue. PLEASE don't do business with this company. It will be the biggest mistake you ever make.

I cancelled my account in January and then had two charges appear on my statement 10 months later. Even after providing customer service their own email confirmation of the cancellation, they claimed the charges could not be cancelled or refunded, and they insisted it was my own fault for being charged, again despite written proof of the cancellation. Avoid doing business with these fraudsters.

I have wasted hours trying to get my 3 website reinstated by HostGator. They claimed that there was Malware in them, which I first removed the files they told me about, but them was forced to spend hundreds of dollars to have the site professionally cleaned. After looking online I thankfully did not use SiteLock which is their partner company and wanted to charge twice as much as Sucuri who I ultimately went with. As soon as my subscription is up with HostGator, I'm moving everything elsewhere.

I have been a customer of HostGator for over 5 years. When I first switched, they were amazing and helpful and their support team always seemed to listen and find solutions. The prices were reasonable and they were a great hosting company. Fast forward to 2017... They overcharge, under-provide, and customer support is deplorable. I had the worst experience ever today. After 5 years with Hostgator dedicated server i am switching to ******** because of someone "Cory R." from Sales Development let me know that I am no longer getting my loyalty discount for whatever reason ( according to him it was one time deal a year before. The discounts that are available will differ depending on when the package is being renewed and a discount that was applied previously may no longer be available. However we do work with our clients to see what discounts may be available at any one time.
Terrible hosting, go elsewhere!! Servers have been down 4 of the last 8 days. They will not even offer an estimated time they will be up simply tell you they are down. They guarantee 99.9 percent up time but when you ask for a refund because you are changing servers they refuse to refund your credit remaining. In 20 years with various hosting sites I have never seen worse. Not just the hosting during these outages they also take down the name servers which means days of lost emails. Due to some hardware issues the server in question had to be taken down to complete the repairs and did require that all sites on the server be restored from the backups. Unfortunately this does take considerable time when a restore is required and will affect all services including email on the server. Hostgator stands behind the 99.9% uptime guarantee which provides a credit for the month of the hosting if the 99.9% is not met
Horrible business practices. They renew your hosting automatically and long before the due date so you receive unexpected balances on your credit card. The support is a nightmare, slow and inexperienced. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Very much disappointed with hostgator level of service and customer support. At this time there are lot of cloud hosting companies to switch to cloud Don't waste time in them. They say things are unlimited. but if you exceed certain limit they will take your site down without any notice or communication and their customer support sucks.
