Absolute ****. I booked a reservation using a discount code a couple weeks ago (even have the confirmation email from Hertz). Now, they suddenly aren't going to honor the rate I originally booked and have doubled the rate. How did I find out? Totally by accident. I called Hertz to ask them to make sure my reservation was connected to my gold rewards account (there app isn't working and hasn't been for a month). The canceled my reservation 1 hour before I was to pick it up. I had made the reservation 3 months prior. They didn't even offer a refund. I'm having to dispute the charge through my credit card. The associate who called me to cancel my reservation said it's common practice for Hertz to book the same vehicle in the same time frameup to 15 reservations. This is hands down the worst customer experience I have ever had anywhere. Absolutely useless staff with seriously useless policies. If you need to be able to rely on or plan anything involving a vehicle, run away as fast as you can. Honestly, I have no idea how they're still in business.
DON'T RENT HERE! Unfortunately zero stars doesn't exist. Hertz convinced me to upgrade the car, and then gave me a broken car that at low speeds jerked around and couldn't maintain a constant speed. Fun in LA traffic! When I returned the car, the help desk person, "Peter", first blamed me for not abandoning my plans and swapping it out. Then Peter offered me 15% off my next purchase (no thanks). Giving even one star to this company is generous. They are a scam with policies and incompetent employees designed to make your experience a living ****. Employees will give you incorrect information and despite this being the companies mistake they take no accountability. Don't expect to have issues resolved EVER because they won't answer the phone and their online chat agents will literally just stop responding to you, leaving you hanging. THIS HAPPEND JUNE 14 , 2021 I HAVE TIRED 5 TIMES WITH MANAGERS GOT NO WHERE ! I personally will NEVER go with the company ever again . I paid $268.40 for all taxes and fees as they said . When I went to return the car , I was told that I needed to pay an additional $100.09 for + Concession fee recovery $28.23 + Vehicle License Fee $13.85 + Customer Facility Charge $20.00 + Tax (11.50%) $38.01 **mind you it says on my invoice EVEYTHING WAS PAID FOR ! ***** Total $100.09 this is ******** ! The charged for a damage waiver that I never selected and was never asked if I wanted the extra coverage. When I called customer support, as well as talked with a manager at customer support, they indicated that I selected the coverage during the rapid checkout process.
I reserved a cargo van a month out from my trip to move my daughter home. I called on a Friday to make sure it would be there. The lady had my reservation and assured me it would be available. I get to Hertz in Nashville, TN, and no cargo van available. This completely derailed my efforts to move my daughter! Do not trust your rental reservation with Hertz! ****
