First off I called night before we were to arrive to see if they allow early check in and if so how early. We were traveling over 3 hrs with a 2hr old. Not only was the front desk person rude and non personable but they were not very helpful. This was the first time I have ever been to or contacted with this establishment. We have been going there on a Thursday evening this week in June for 10 years at about 5:00 pm and we are usually the only ones in the place. This year we called to make reservations this year for 9 people and were told they cannot accommodate us!!! Really. I guess this ends our 10 year tradition!!! Very disappointed.
My husband and I chose the Heidel House as our venue for our wedding a week and a half ago. I could not have imagined getting married anywhere else. Everything was absolutely PERFECT! Star and her intern Sierra were spot on all weekend long. In fact had Sierra not had "intern" listed on her name badge, I would have NEVER guessed she wasn't a seasoned employee on the event and catering staff. My WIFE (holy crap) and I got married here. From the initial tour, to the end of the reception they were nothing short of amazing. Star was very organized and welcoming, Karen was a lovely gem of a server. Also, every staff member was a pleasure to talk to. We highly recommend jet skiing with Action Marina as a first couple adventure. Trust us, you won’t regret checking into the Heidel House.
UPDATE: It’s always wonderful when management acknowledges your feedback and commits to improvement. We will be staying again! I’ll start with the positives. You can’t ask for a better location on the lake. We took the Escapades cruise on Saturday afternoon because we arrived early and our room wasn’t ready. Great local history and community information. The highlight here is the spa--absolutely exceptional & well worth the money. (Excellent food at rhe spa too!) Grounds are great; food at Grey Rock was excellent & entertainment at the bar at Grey Rock was a real treat! The hotel rooms, unfortunately are dated. And in rough shape. The place could use a $2M infusion to bring the hotel rooms up to the level of the Spa & Grey Rock Restaurant.
Just had my son’s wedding here. While The grounds are beautiful, and employees friendly; that is about all I can say was good about this property. The hotel has seen much better days I’m sure. It is VERY DATED. Our $235 room had a King bed and a pull out sofa for our daughter that was so old, there was nothing left but metal bars and a very thin holy mattress to lay on. Very dated resort - our bathroom door wouldn't shut because the floor was uneven. Lighting in the rooms was horrible - dim. Cleaning was mediocre (that's being generous). The bed lamps had significant dust collected on them. Staff at the bar, front desk and restaurant were poor - just short of rude. Breakfast took two hours and we barely could get a refill on our coffee. The vending machine didn't work by our room.
