I have experienced fraud on my golden 1 card. Golden one has tried to play hard ball and ask me questions to try and incriminate me instead of take care of my dispute. On their page they display that cardholders are responsible for zero liability for fraud, of course that wasn’t true. Golden1 Credit Union is a predatory institution. Having banked with every major institution over the past 20 years, I recently completed an auto loan through Golden1 and it is very obvious that they intentionally convolute the process (have technical glitches, have phone representatives give false info, only alow certain process to occur via paper mail etc.) to run up fees and increase their own yields. There’s always a problem with this banking institution. Whether it has to do with security issues, account issues, and even app issues. Security is terrible because they lock out customers too often—making them reset their passwords so many times. There’s a lag in automatic withdrawals, which results in overdrafts. The app doesn’t even work properly—as it claims to be “under maintenance” or when it says “temporarily unavailable” it’s actually not temporary, but some kind of bug in its system. The way these folks do business is absolutely ridiculous and wrong on so many levels. I haven't used my Golden1 account for quite some time due to moving away to an area where the closest Branch is over a 2 hour drive away. Due to how old the account has been and inactive, I ended up forgetting the password and apparently the answer to the security question, along with the issue of the phone number on the account being a number thats no longer in service. Mortgage loan servicing and new loans has been outsourced. A year ago, Mortgage company Failed to ever respond back when I tried for 2 weeks to figure out how to add extra principal to my loan. Second: Monday today 3-9-2020 call member services to refinance Golden 1 mortgage. Promised call back 24 hrs. Today Wednesday 3-11-2020 no return call. This is the worst company i have dealt with in 2019. I recently also paid off my Auto Loan with this company. There was an over-payment with my pay off check, they deposited it into the mandatory savings account they opened for me (i did not request one). Then they put a 3 day hold on the money. Once funds became available i had to call again (which take 20 to 30 minutes even to reach someone on the phone) they of course, the person I was talking to could perform the actions i requested and transferred me again, so another 1... read more

What a worthless institution. I got an auto loan from them with a mediocre interest rate. Their online and mobile services look like something built in the 90s. Once I paid off my auto loan and closed all my accounts, they still auto-drafted my checking account the monthly charge for my car loan. It took days to get my money back. What a joke. Maybe they should stop spending money on a worthless stadium in downtown Sacramento and invest that money internally in making it a worth while bank.
