Have you seen any of the Golden 1 (*************************) TV commercials lately? They stress they area non-profit cooperative. They also stree how warm and friendly they are. That may be true- until you owe them money. Let this review be a warning to anyone who has ever fallen on hard times... I opened a bank with G1 at one point so that I would have a bank/credit union locally. I didn't use them much at all, but I did have a deposit at some point and I used the money, then the bill came for that deposit (small loan). It caused me to overdraft because I don't use the account enough and didn't even mean for the loan to be paid from the G1 account. I had a vehicle financed through them, car was totalled in an accident. I had purchased GAP insurance just in case and to get my GAP to payoff the difference they require very specific info that this joke of a credit union refused to provide. They would not talk to the GAP insurance company either. I even offered to sign a release of information form for them and still nothing. I have been a customer with Golden1 for years and it used to be fine until the last few years. I recently went on the Golden1 website to make an auto payment. I wanted to pay two months at once so I submitted a payment for twice the amount that was due. At the end of the transaction the page reloaded back to the beginning instead of taking me to a confirmation page. Golden1 CU (G1) use to be a great bank (gave 5 star review last 2 yrs) until recently. I walked into the Fairfield CA branch to applied to refinanced my auto loan a month ago. The manager ran my credit (789), said everything was fine but needed to see my actual SSN to proceed or if I know the date by SSN was issued to get past the page on his current screen. I have been a customer here for several years. EVERY SINGLE TIME, I enter the branch to conduct business, I am met with a line of customers wrapped around poles. I have one hour for lunch and half the time I have to leave my place in line because I will undoubtably be late back from lunch if I waited to be helped. They NEVER have enough customer service. As I am waiting in line almost every single customer complains and we are all just sick of it.

A member of our family recently passed away after a car accident. She had a car loan with golden one, and despite several requests from her conservator and confirmation from insurances that the loan would be paid off via insurance, Golden One refused to close her account or furthermore cease the automatic loan payments for the car. I have had Golden 1 for almost a year now and I have not had any problems with them until today. I am currently traveling and I was trying to make a purchase and my transaction was canceled twice, so I call the customer service number.
