They do everything to avoid talking to their insurance paying customers. Their auto talk select phone options are terrible. They say it's fastest to use their online chat but that's not a real person and just delays time.
They automatically renewed my policy without warning, pulling the amount out of my account sending it in the negative. After waiting on hold for an hour, was told they don’t send out reminders and there is no way to check on the website or app to know about an upcoming charge. The cancelled my policy but was told it would be at least 10 days before they issued a refund. They prey on the elderly and the uninformed. Poor service, poor communication. And even worse insurance for the money you spend.
I have been seeing my eye doctor in Woodbury, CT for 15 years. I have taken my children to the same doctor. My son suffered a concussion in the dodgeball pit in Kindergarten. His eye tracking was off. My son is now 10. This Dr. Has the history of my son. My Doctor retired and two wonderful doctors bought the practice and my family was able to continue without disruption. I made the mistake of signing up to be a provider for Eyemed around 2014. Their customer "service" is terrible with extremely long waits on hold, incompetent representatives who make error after error after error, poor communication with their clients (less than 50% of the patients I served even knew they had vision insurance through Eyemed). The only issue that I really have with their insurance is that all of the people that they work with in network to fill contacts require you to have the same lens in both eyes. If you have a different lens in each eye like I do because I have monovision and an astigmatism in one of them, you are not eligible to get contacts at any of their in-network providers because they require the exact same lens and some of them require the exact same prescription in both eyes to fill them. I signed up for this insurance on September 27th, it is now October 13th. I have no member ID, no Group Policy, and can't call anyone on the automated phone because I dont have a policy number.
Despite their bad faith claims in their benefits guide that "Your EyeMed membership lets you see on your own terms, with added savings on alternatives to traditional glasses. EyeMed members get either 15% off standard LASIK prices"After I got LASIK, they told me none of the cost was covered because I didn't use an in-network provider. Of course their website does not provide a list of in-network providers so I don't know how I could have found one.
One of the worst insurance, Hard to get hold of customer service, Automated service will give you "Sorry I didn't understand try back later", Website is amess and doesn't give you the option to search for doctor by specialty, I was looking for pediatric eye doctor and with this insurance is non-existence and they will ask you to call your medical insurance to find one..
