The interest is so high its felt impossible a lot of times to pay off such a large amount for a used car, but it was my only option credit-wise at the time. Now, the payoff amount is atleast $1000 higher than what I owe. This company traps people with poor credit who are trying to improve it. If someone has low credit, expecting them to pay $600 a month on a lower income (at the time) doesn't seem realistic.
Since the very first payment it has been nothing but a headache. We did automatic payments from our bank account and every month Exter would send them back into our bank account and we would resend payment to them. They charged us $120 for 3 months of late fees which we were never late it was automatically taken out of our account, but they sent it back. We talked to our bank because exter said it was our bank doing it and they said it was not them but the company doing it. We are still fighting with them over late fees to t... read more
I was asked an inappropriate question by customer service today. On today Friday March 5, 2021 a customer service rep from Exeter finance called me to discuss my car payments (I do not remember her name but please do your research as a company, Exeter, and if you guys are truly about serving and customer service, do find out who it is and deal with her accordingly. You have the recording). No problem. After me telling her that I could not make the full payment at the time, she asked inappropriate questions by asking "are you... read more
I am a single parent mother who has had some hardships through the years but for the most part I have paid my loan on time every month. There was a year that I had to take custody of my sister's children, working two jobs and taking care of my mother as well so that year was tough. I called a representative at Exeter to explain my situation and she explained that I could put a few payments on the end of my loan so that me being late on my payment and sometimes not being able to pay would not affect me negatively so I took he... read more
I have been paying my car which I got 5 months ago. My payments always on time and over monthly amount owed. Well my loan total pay off amount, is now more than what I originally got the loan for. I can't trade car in NO dealership is even willing to work with me now, because it looks like I am not paying my car loan. Their website is awful, all you can do is make a payment, does not show you your loan amount, not even showing payment history I fill like I am in a nightmare. At the right they charge me then tell me I am Also... read more

This is the only place I know of during the pandemic that still charges a late fees and reports to the credit bureau 's. They are terrible to work with.
I was told that I would be the co-signer on the loan. When we signed the paperwork I questioned why the loan was in my name and my daughter the co-signer and they didn't give me any reason. I also questioned why the interest was so high and again given the run around. My daughter needed a car as she had a young child and needed a vehicle to get to work. And a year ago her second child came a month early and then was off work for 6 weeks with no income and struggled to make the payments. We tried getting her payments extended... read more
This company is absolutely TRASH. I had a ridiculous percent at 14.4%. My credit was lower than it is now but not near that low. I do not recommend it due to this. You will be paying a ridiculous amount for a car that won't be worth it in a couple of years. Couldn't even refinance with anyone because of the APR. Traded my car in 3 weeks ago for a brand new one and a better company. I told them this and that they will be getting a check soon for the payoff. They called my cell phone while I was at work. 8 times in 10 hours fo... read more
