Tina with Exciting Windows by Apollo Draperies came into our home a couple of years ago and measured our bathroom window to replace an old shade. She is so very professional and friendly as well as her staff whom I met in their showroom not too long ago. I decided to order a particular shade from the ones she recommended because of the large window and the amount of sun that comes in throughout the day especially in the summer. Our blinds came in quickly and Tina's husband and son came out to install them, again they were very kind and professional. They worked very quickly and left our place beautiful with our blinds in place and also showed me a few things about the blinds to work them correctly. We are very pleased with them and they absolutely cut out the hot sun in the summer, it is amazing the difference this shade makes in our bathroom! I also needed a kitchen bay window blind replaced recently when we had our kitchen updated. While we were not ready to replace all the blinds yet, Tina was able to match perfectly the blind that we did need to replace and it was installed within a couple of weeks. I was very pleased with the service and professionalism that Tina and her company provide. We will be using their service in the future and I will recommend this company to everyone I know!!

1. Overpriced. Insanely overpriced 2. Prissy 3. SLOW Came to my house to install some drapes. Tina wanted a high four digit figure to install some drapes out of prefabricated material. Apollo Draperies seems to think their boring, Family Dollar-esque designs of giant buttons on fabric board are the hippest of hip. For this astronomical sum they could not work within a month of lead time. Tina wasted over an hour of my time, insisting on delivering a saccharine PowerPoint presentation about her family, daughter and dog, as if any of that matters to me when I'm in the market for some drapes. Throughout the entire encounter Tina came off as distant, staid and unimaginative. When the topic of shutters came up, Tina absolutely refused to do anything that wasn't prefab or to install them in any way that wasn't to the letter of the directions. When I suggested mounting some modified shutters on free-turning hinges and using them as saloon doors, Tina looked at me like I was from Mars. It became very clear that she wanted a margin on the order of 10-20 times the cost of materials to install prefabricated hardware. Well, we finally bought some lovely red velvet drapes for 20€ each from a flea market in Paris that were superior to what she was offering. Two other windows were even more lavishly kitted out with some burgundy velvet drapes made in Italy that we bought for $350 a pair off eBay and were way out of their league. We got some custom-made saloon doors off eBay and had someone else varnish them. We're very happy with what we got. We've dropped about $35k improving this house, including having the floors stripped, sanded and varnished, the walls repainted, over 20 trees planted, a pool and hot tub installed, and ceiling speakers, cameras and Ethernet installed in every room. So price is not an object if the quality is there.
Business Response:

I’m sorry you had a bad experience. We’ve been in business and family owned since 1973, we serve hundreds of Tri-State residences each year, and we strive to create the best possible experience for each and every person. Once again, I appreciate the input. On March 4th, 2014, Mr. Farber called the office and scheduled an appointment for a design consultation. Mr. Farber expressed his need for custom draperies for 2 windows and 2 sets of shutters for two smaller windows. Before our scheduled appointment, I spoke with Mr. Farber on the phone to confirm his needs for custom window treatments. At this time he did not express any need for installation only job. As owner and designer, we do not schedule appointments for installation only. On March 10th, 2014, I visited Mr. Farber in his home. During each of my home visits, I present my portfolio to allow my clients to get to know me as well as my work. During this time, Mr. Farber made his own remarks regarding my portfolio. Presenting my portfolio, I hope to learn more about my clients as well as their likes and dislikes of different designs to help us design something they do like. Instead of Mr. Farber discussing his likes and dislikes of what I was showing him, he instead told me about his experience with every business he had worked with and put down their sales representatives that he had welcomed into his home. On March 11th, 2014, I sent Mr. Farber a detailed quote of what we had discussed during our appointment. We never discussed his need for using shutters as saloon doors. This is something we offer but Mr. Farber and I did not discuss his desire to have this done. A couple weeks later, Mr. Faber called me on my personal cell phone. He proceeded to tell me what I was going to do for him. He told me that I was to send an installer to his house, told me what the installer was to do and how much he was going to pay the installer for doing the work. It was at that time that I asked Mr. Farber to never call my phone or my business again. I had determined that we will never be able to work together on a project. It hurts me to learn that Mr. Farber had thought that my intention during my visit was focused on the margin of the order. This is not how I do business. My clients become my friends and because of this we offer a 4-point guarantee: Guaranteeing, The Best price anywhere; for the equivalent quality and service also guaranteeing the best quality and workmanship, to all of our clients. We do not offer any pre- fabricated products. Everything that we make is custom made and design for our clients windows.

In the family room, had new "valence-boards", valences made for four large Corner windows. I had excellent help and advice with these window treatments.

This was the second time I have used Tina. The first was for custom kitchen valances after a kitchen remodel. I was impressed with her work, so I had her make drapes for my dining room. They were a specific design to match another room. They duplicated the design perfectly ( they actually look better) and she helped me choose a fabric which was no easy task due to the design and color of the wallpaper. The curtains are fabulous and the dining room looks amazing. I also had her recover all the dining room chairs. Again, the work was done in a timely manner and looks great. Tina has a good eye for color and is very easy to work with.

I worked with Apollo for a breakfast area and my living room. These were my first custom draperies. The design service was great and she was very patient with me in the decision making process. The draperies were modern and fabulous and exceeded my expectations - totally enhanced the room and made it feel more finished. Installation went without a hitch! Cant wait to move on to the next room with Apollo!

Apollo Fraperies originally designed and made all of my draperies. They have removed, cleaned and reinstalled previously, however even though they didn't require cleaning, they removed and stored while I had work done on my home. When finished (May 2014) they brought them, re-hung and they looked like new! I have only encountered friendly, excellent and very professional service the many years I have worked with them!
