Camping with kids. We brought our 9 and 3 year old and had a blast. We all made it to the summit, albeit very windy, and hiked the remainder of the day. Kids loved climb up, around and on all the boulders. View from then summit was awespiring. The only flaw was that the "water" campsites only had faucets nearby and not actually at each site, same with parking. Just made for some extra trips back and forth.
We went to Enchanted Rock with our children for a school fieldtrip. We had a great time hiking up the top of the rock. It is a bit of a steep climb up but totally worth it. We also brought our dog Rocko it was a great day for a hike. Rocko and I stayed on loop trail. My husband and our twin boys made the hike up the summit. The views from the top were awesome.
The dome lives up to its name--stark, serene, magic.
Don't be in the park after dark!!!! It is a beautiful, and breathtaking site. The enormous mountian surrounded by prickly pear and small lakes are just gorgeous. But something so beautiful isn't without flaw. We spent the evening being haunted. Strange lights wee circling and passing through the camp site. The wild life were acting really weird. Monday, February 27, was my first visit to Enchanted Rock in spite of living relatively close for years. Although brief (~1 hr), my visit was restorative and inspiring. I've been feeling overwhelmed and tired, of late, with the busy-ness of life. The magnificence of the granite mass and the poetic beauty of all the features of the place at sunset created the perfect strengthening tonic for me. I am grateful, and we will return soon.
great place, but should try and go early cause they have a limit on the # of people who can go into the park at any time
We've been three times with two young children. There is something for every skill level here. Every time we have visited we have found a new area to explore with completely different views and settings and plan on seeing a whole new side of the park next time! Our kids have been hiking many times in their 4 and 6 year old lives and understand that doing these activities requires listening to our instruction so they don't get injured. Is great place to do family adventures and we have a good time.
A wonderful nature experience, great parking, and hidden gems for cave like areas if you know where to look. Spent 3 hours there enjoying.
