Know when to not go. I don't like mobs of people, so avoid the place during Spring break, weekends and holidays.
Woke up early and drove 4 hours just to get to the park to be turned away for the day. Was a little frustrating. Got up at five am the next morning and was able to get in. Was totally worth it. Absolutely breath taking views. I can see why it is so hard to get in. Finished off the hike to the summit with a crawl through the caves. Just amazing. Park rangers were friendly. Just wish there was something they could do about the parking so more people could experience it. Maybe expand it?
We loved the park! The facilities where kept up well and the staff seemed very nice and helpful. Only complaint, is the wait. We drove 2 hours, arrived and then had to wait another 2.5 hours to even get in. I understand it's busy. Perhaps there should be an online check in to reserve a parking pass so one can show up at their alloted time slot, instead of have to drive all the way there, pick up a pass and then have to come back. Besides this issue, the park was great overal.
