Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. Old school drive up burger joint with car hops and the ole window mounted tray. pretty cool! The food is simple, affordable and good. The shakes are made with real ice cream and are oh so good! Also, our carbon was a sweetie and gave us excellent service. I'd recommend it, of course. Oh, don't go expecting huge portions. They have normal size portions....what we should be eating, not the super size humungous portions other places offer.
Love this place! Took my granddaughter today for the first time:) she loved the good!
it's a must stop every time we visit the Tidewater area... this time ordered a banana split and it comes out with no banana, sent it back and no hot fudge? oh well waitress was great.
