About this business
Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. RecommendedAwesome and nostalgic... absolutely favorite place. Maury stomping grounds in the 50’s & 60’s! Had to be there after every football game! Remains the ‘go to’” place even today!!!!

doumar's is all around a great place to eat anything from the barbecue to their cones their shakes and their limeades. Doumar's what makes Norfolk great.
We have been coming for years now! Service and food is always great. The kids love coming into the retro dinner and the nostalgic pictures. We love Doumar’s & we very much recommend them to anyone.
The original home of the waffle cone is much more. Old school menu with great burgers and shakes. Menu is very affordable!

Food is great. The pick up service is fast but one person at the counter is soo rude, he ignores you when you enter to pick up food and then say:” Are you here for something.” with a tone of annoyance from interrupting his taking coins out of a roll of coins. My second time seeing him and first time he was so rude, He just didn’t speak other than what it cost me. As many others seen it on diners drive inns and dives. Wasn’t disappointed awesome buns, pork was yummy, the hotdogs were great. Loved the crushed ice.
