Many believe that Abe Doumar, founder of Doumar's Cones & Barbecue, gave the world its first ice cream cone. Doumar was a traveling salesman retailing paperweights at the famous St. Louis World's Fair in 1904. When an ice cream seller exhausted his stock of paper dishes to hold the ice creams, he got a nearby waffle maker to roll his waffles into cones and thus invented the waffle cone. Been going to this great place since dating as a teenager in high school. Went off and on from the sixties until as recently as a few months ago. It’s like a step back in time. The food is as good as ever and hope it stays that way. Best limeades ever. Will be a sad day when we lose that wonderful place.
BBQ great. Milkshakes great. But to sit down inside I feel like I need to bring clorox wipes. 😒
