Was just at Hotel this weekend. Rooms are very dated and my mattress was soft and I sank to middle of bed. Carpet looks like it needs replacing as well. Some mold spots on ceiling in shower. Pool looked a bit cloudy and was very cold. Toilet in bathroom kept running. Reported it in Saturday and also Sunday when I checked out. This hotel is dated and in need of major refresh. I would probably return if the property was remodeled.
Negatives: Inadequate air conditioning, inhospitable bar manager, unreliable elevators, poor check in procedures, lots of fruit flies Positives: most individual hotel staff members have been great, Overall layout, convention organization & superb Shriner Family. RecommendedVery nice, clean room. However, they do hold $50/night for incidentals - just be prepared.
The staff are very nice that said this hotel needs a major upgrade. Found hair in the tub, carpet looks dirty and found stains on sheets.
We had our family reunion in Grand Rapids and we everyone stayed at the crown plaza. Our rooms were not ready & we had to wait over an hour to check in. They gave us drink vouchers for the inconvenience. So we ordered food while we waited, there were so many gnats that I felt like we were eating outside. We finally attempt to check in our room & the keys didn’t work. We had to get the keys replaced or reprogrammed more than 10 times during the duration of our stay. Extremely out of date hotel. Rooms had a funky/strange smell and the air conditioning didn’t work at all.
My stay here was terrible. Checked in around 6 pm with my girlfriend and our 4 month old baby. Around midnight I was woke up to the sound of an intensely loud fire alarm over our bed. The alarm went on for an excruciating 10 minutes before it finally quit. Hotel management didn’t even have the courtesy to apologize for the noise or inform the guests of what was going on. I don't want to stay here again unless forced to because that is where function is being held . Young lady at the front desk could not have been any sweeter or helpful but the hotel itself left a lot to be desired . Staff was very nice but rooms were not restocked properly . The entire premise is very dated and dismal . TV did not work and alarm clock was broken . At least I wasn't bitten by bed bugs like on my last stay !
I was not impressed with this place at all. We booked a big group of hotels with a special rate for the Michigan State bowling tournament and upon check in they only gave us 1 room at the special rate and the rest of the rooms were regular priced. The rooms were supposed to come with a fridge and microwave but none were in any of our rooms. Though the hallway managed to have a fridge sitting outside one of the rooms.
