I would give zero stars if it were an option. Where to even begin ... Conservice (pronounced Kuhn-service, like Conserve, but it should just be pronounced CONservice because that's what they are and do) is a third-party utility billing company. This company charges us on average about $84 -$87/month for water/sewer. Our February 2021 bill shows we used more water/sewer than we did at any time since May of 2020. We were charged $59.27 for sewer and $14.50 for water. I've never seen a sewer bill that was more than $16-$25/mont... read more

Business response:

Daniel - Each month we receive a bill from the local water and sewer provider for the services used at your apartment community. After your property management pays a portion of the charges the remaining amount is used to calculate a charge per occupant. For example, if the remaining amount for the water was $1,000 and there were a total of 100 occupants at the community, the charge would be $10 per occupant (1000/100). Apartments with 1 occupant would receive $10 for the water, apartments with 2 occupants would receive $20 ... read more

Things were OK with this company until they decided to only gave me only 5 days to pay the bill. I received my bill on 3/29/2021 and they want it in by 4/1/2021. I tried to call customer service to see why they are only giving me 5 days to pay the bill and they told me it was because they received the bill late from the utility provider. So my questions are: 1. How can i control this and 2. Why cant you push the due date forward to compensate for it arriving late? The rep told me that they allow one late fee to be waved and ... read more

Business response:

Daniel - I'm sorry for the situation and I understand your concern. I have ensured that you will not receive a late fee this month if your payment is received late. We do offer e-billing. This ensures you receive an email notification as soon as the bill is finalized. You can also reach out to your bank in regards to bill pay. Many banks can send electronic bill payments, which often arrive in a few business days. Please feel free to reach out to us at service@conservice.com withany questions.

These crooks charge hundreds (thousands?) of renters $5 a month to divide one number by another. I will absolutely pass these jokers by in the future and pray that karma works fast on them.

Business response:

Michelle - I'm happy to clarify. The monthly service fee is charged for calculating the utility charges as needed, sending out the monthly statements, and providing conservation resources. This fee is similar to fees charged by other utility companies for similar services. Please feel free to reach out to us at 866-947-7379 or service@conservice.com with any questions.

Back to back months they are trying to charge my wife and I $700 for water/sewage... I have looked the bill up and down and there is no possible way. They are saying we used 80,000 gallons of water (and we normally use between 4,000-5,000). They are trying to say that we have a toilet leak... 80,000 gallons of water is enough to fill multiple public swimming pools. Half of our building would be flooded. This is negligent on their behalf. I have tried to contact them multiple times and they will not let me speak to a man ager... read more

Business response:

****** - I'm happy to clarify. A large increase in water usage can indicate a maintenance issue. This does not necessarily mean there would be large pools of water. There can simply be water running through the system constantly, such as with a leaking toilet, which can cause thousands of gallons to be used daily. In reviewing your account, I see that we were able to confirm that there was an issue with your toilet that was fixed. Your most recent usage from February 1st to March 1st has returned to normal because of this. P... read more

This company is a rip off and everything everyone is saying is the truth. The promanade where I live in Ca changed to this horrible service. My water, sewer and trash bill use to be no more than 60 dollars. After going to this con company my bill have increased from 76, 81, 85 and 243. 00 dollars in only one month so something is very shady with this company and not to mention that I am the only one at my one bedroom apartment so how in the hell did my bill jump so high for only one month! This is not a company this is a tak... read more

Business response:

Sherri - I'm happy to clarify. Your Conservice account was recently set to non-billable per request of your property management. The last utility charges you received were due January 1st, 2021. Your current balance is with your leasing office and is not for any new utility charges from Conservice. I'm sorry for any confusion. I would advise reaching out to your leasing office directly to confirm what your balance is for. Please feel free to reach out to us at866-947-7379 or service@conservice.com with any questions on your ... read more

Our rental company uses Conservice to manage the utility bills for their customers. We do not have a choice to opt in or out of this service. At least once a year, we receive a Conservice bill that includes two electric and two gas bills, Conservice's excuse always being that they "didn't receive those bills the previous month prior to their statement processing date," which results in an overall utility bill for us that is nearly $500. If this were a one-off issue, I could accept that, but it happens at least once every yea... read more

Business response:

******* - As a third party utility management and billing companywe simply forward any utility charges to you as they are received. There are times wherewe do not receive a utility bill from some of the local utility providers in time to include the charges on your utility statement that is due on the first of every month. When this occursit is very likely that you will receive charges for more than one service period on the next utility statement for those utilities not billed during the previous month. I'm sorry for any fr... read more

I am very upset because our propane bill keeps getting higher each month despite keeping our heat at 60, having plastic on the windows, having the bottoms of doors covered, and only using the dryer one day a week (which it’s electrical but w.e.) I can never get in touch with customer service and its ridiculous to have a $300 bill when I am barely using the heat!

Business response:

Sanet - I'm happy to see that you were able to speak with a representativeover the phone in regards to your account. To clarify, it is not uncommon for there to be an increase in gas usage during this time of year. As it gets colder outside the heat will turn on more often to keep your home to temperature. Keeping the temperature set lower will help conserve energy and reduce the increase in usage. However, it will not stop an increase from happening during the colder months. I'm sorry for any inconvenience. As the temperatu... read more

I am Power of Attorney for my 81 yo father. In moving into an apartment community that contracts Conservice Utilities 2 years ago, my dad has been receiving extremely large bills during the winter months. Last year I put in a complaint with the rental office and Conservice because we thought perhaps something was wrong with the meter. His bills go from $39 to $350-$450 in the winter months. Mind you, he's staying in a small size 2 bedroom apartment and barely runs the heat because these past few years we've had a slight wint... read more

Business response:

******** - In reviewing the account, I see that we have not received reads from the gas meter for a few months. This is why the usage has been estimated and the estimations were calculated based on the gas usage last year. Last year it was determined that based on your father's usage habits the usage was accurate. Keeping the temperature higher will cause a large increase in usage during the winter months as this will cause the heat to run more often and for a longer time. We do advise keeping the temperate set to about 68 -... read more

This is the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They charge you $7.95 a month for services that they do not provide. I moved into my residence in late August of 2020 and I was told by the leasing company that they provided utility services through this third party company Conservice and that I needed to set up an account, so that's what I did. The first week in the residence my trash did not get picked up, so I submitted a request via online and Conservice was suppose to send them out to collect the trash, week two (... read more

Business response:

Frances - I understand your frustration and I'm happy to review this for you. I do see that when the trash provider was switchedthe previous trash provider confirmed their service would be cancelled as of September 10th. However, they have continued to bill for the trash services. As a third party utility management and billing companythese charges were simply forwarded to you on your monthly statements. I can confirm that we are currently reviewing possible credits for these charges and will be contacting the previous trash... read more
