Always prompt and efficient if a claim is made, for either auto or home. Top notch adjusters and customer representatives.
Had a claim after someone hit me. Car required a significant amount of service. Hanover was responsive, and quick to take care of all associated costs. When price hunting, their rates came in significantly lower. I liked working with a local rep as well, instead of the larger company. Great response time, and dealt with all the headaches.
7 year client. Addressed my claim and paid quickly without dispute.
We have had Hanover for both Auto and Homeowners, for several years. Their claim service is excellent. They respond quickly and pay what they owe with no hassle. My agent offered me a cheaper option upon renewal but we stayed with Hanover because we are comfortable they will be there if we need them.
Has Citizens for over 25 years, home fire 22 years ago, excellent service, good agent very considerate, 2 car accidents, excellent service. Need agents to talk with no so great without that personalized service. Keep the premiums down is my only request.
So we closed our Renters Insurance policy prior as our policy period ended, since we found a better insurance company/rate. Hanover decided to charge us $25 dollars for no reason, considering our policy was paid in full. I refused to pay it, why should I? I never received any service for the bill. Well now they tried to send the bill to collections. What a fraudulent company. I'll never use their insurance ever again, even if they're cheaper than any others. Steer clear of Hanover Fraud.

I have never had a claim in past 10 years, but their rates seem competitive. My car was rear-ended this fall and I am scheduled to have it repaired next month. Hanover worked directly with the local repair shop and did not ask me for any payment. I am satisfied with their coverage.
Avoid this insurance company. We had a very bad experience with Hanover homeowner's insurance. In what seemed like a bait and switch, we signed up at a rate that was high, but not exorbitant, only to find that it almost quadrupled over the next 10 years, with no claims submitted or other events that would justify such an increase. Hanover refuses to accurately list the city in which we live, on our homeowner's and auto insurance policies. Like many communities, our zip code covers more than one municipality. We live in a relatively small suburb of Milwaukee. Our crime rates are very low; Milwaukee's are comparatively higher. This potentially affects insurance risk profiles and definitely affects rates.
