After spending 2 1/2 years seeing a cardiologist, we were finally told it was not my sons heart. She spent the entire time telling him to drink water. Now she has referred us to nephrology and they are booked out 4 months. So, since my son is passing out and ceasing, I ask that I be referred to a facility that can see him sooner and guess what ??!! Children’s Mercy refuses!!! I hope your cardiology dept feels really good about dropping the ball on my sons health!!! Shame on you!!!!!! Disgusting!!
So I’ve only been at children’s mercy for 2 days. My son was transferred here so that he could get evaluated for his pda. Since the moment I arrived at this hospital I have been disgusted and disappointed by the lack of everything. I had a nurse practitioner come to my sons bedside and started touching him without even wearing gloves. I politely asked her would she put some on and she had a attitude like she was offended by me asking her to do so. Apparently they don’t believe their nurses should wear gloves when touching th... read more
I’ve been taking my son to speech therapy weekly since June. A few weeks ago, the speech therapist and I decided to take a break. Today, we received a bill for $365. We have not received a single bill until now. That is totally unacceptable!!! I called to speak to someone and was put on hold for a very long time and then told they were very busy and would call me back within 72 hours. Why do we have to sit and stress for 72 hours about a bill that has NEVER been communicated to us! Oh, and it’s due by the 9th..? Yeah, someon... read more

Hi Kori, we're so sorry you had a frustrating experience. Our Patient Advocates would like to hear more details. Can you please send us a message? Thanks!
We had the best experience with the ENT and anesthesia team. My daughter needed emergency surgery and they were so kind and caring to our situation. Went above and beyond to make sure my daughter was comfortable! Thank you guys so much!
Thank you all on the second floor from room #15. You all did everything you could to save my sons life. God bless you all, God bless you.
Their attention to the patient and the caregiver is remarkable. They listen foremost. Immediately the patient and caregivers find they are working WITH the medical staff. The goals, the procedures, the prognosis... all are shared transparently. I love this place.
We were only supposed to be there 1 night but it turned into 2 nights. The nursing staff on 2 Hensen we're outstanding! I would like to give a special thank you to Crystal the RN on night shift. She was not going to let my son continue to be sick. She went above and beyond to explore every option to help his overcome his persistent nausea. I was able to just be a mom and let the nurses, nurse. Also, when I was turned around in the hospital (many times) any staff I came upon could clearly tell and we're so helpful to me back ... read more
I was informed by 2 receptionists that “it is completely normal to wait 2 to 3 hours for a scheduled appointment.” Absolutely ridiculous. They obviously deliberately overbook. It is poor patient care and service to routinely force patients to wait this long for a scheduled appointment. You are better off going to a doctor and facility that respects your time.
They saved my baby's life. He had open-heart surgery at 4 weeks. He just turned six years old. <3
