In the early 1950's, mill worker Hysen Chelo purchased a piece of property as an investment. Hysen's four children thought that land investments were unwise and envisioned a restaurant on that site to support their growing families. Thus, Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille was started in 1955. The food and service were great! I have been many times before but don't remember the desserts being this fantastic! The carrot cake is the best I've ever had. Better than the restaurant down the street that is known for its desserts.
Grilled chicken salad.....not appealing. Calamari overcooked Disappointed.
The corn beef and cabbage was terrible worst meal I have ever had
Being someone that traveled here for work from another state, I have got to say that I had the best experience. The waitress was very kind and a pleasure to have. The food is fantastic! I have and will recommend this place to anyone that travels up here. If I get the chance to travel here again, I will definitely be returning for another great experience.
Visiting wirh my family for lunch at Chelo's after flying in from Chicago is always a very special time.
