In the early 1950's, mill worker Hysen Chelo purchased a piece of property as an investment. Hysen's four children thought that land investments were unwise and envisioned a restaurant on that site to support their growing families. Thus, Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille was started in 1955. I was visiting from Texas with my Aunt. Great food!
Ate there last Thursday. Tasty Caesar salad, basket of crisp onion rings, French-style meat pie and banana cream pie. Enthusiastic server. Would come back again and again.
I had the Portuguese kale soup that was the best...DELICIOUS. ..need to put that soup in the regular menu.......
