Hi, I’ve lived here for about a month, but due to COVID and a mess up with my financial aid, I can no longer afford to live here. I’m looking for someone to take over my lease. It’s 2 bedroom 1 bathroom shared. Dorm prices have gone up, but you’d be paying the $499 that I pay now. You’ll have an awesome roommate and I’m in Chama, right on the corner next to the back door. It’s a great spot and very quiet. If you’re interested please DM or text me at (505) 235-0843. Thank you so much!!

Hi there! My name is Katie Herrmann and I am an incoming freshman this fall. I have decided to go to UNMLA instead of Main Campus because of covid. Due to this, I am reletting my dorm. I am signed up for a double, $499/month. I was assigned to the Chama building. Dorms are now selling for a higher price, so if you took over my lease you would be paying the price I signed for, not the higher price. My number is (505) 412-0758, call or text me if you have any questions!
I completely echo Molly’s review below......ACC is operated as a “de facto” dorm. But unlike a dorm, they are not offering any refunds due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Be careful before you sign the lease....... it is 26 pages long and is NOT CANCELLABLE!
Do NOT let your college student rent with this heartless company! During this global crisis, when students have been asked to move home and shelter with their families, American Campus refuses to let these students out of their leases. They are an extremely large company that could easily absorb the cost of a few months rent but instead, they continue to charge these kids and their struggling families. Millions of people are out of work and have no way to pay their bills. This company says that they will work with families t... read more

Hello, We know that this is an uncertain time for everyone and understand the concerns that our residents may be experiencing. Like most student housing properties, we do not have a cancellation or early termination option in our lease agreement because we lease for a specific term based on the academic calendar. The lease is a binding contract, and although we understand there may be extenuating circumstances, the contract will need to remain as it is. Although we understand the university has put recommendations in place f... read more
O stars. I have nothing positive to say as a parent of two children who live in a Richmond location. I feel like this is simply a money making scam, taking advantage of young people. This conglomerate does not honor the leasing contract. This company has found an easy group to take advantage of: young adults who lack the real world experience to speak up demand working elevators, etc. Shameful. I hope this helps others make a better decision when considering housing for your children.
Business response:
Hello, We apologize for the inconvenience of the elevator being broken. We are currently under a preventative maintenance agreement for our elevator to help prevent such breakdowns. We are working diligently with our elevator vendor to correct this issue as fast as we can. There have been multiple parts that have broken on the elevator throughout the year causing the elevator to be down multiple times. As soon as we are aware that the elevator is down, we make contact with our vendor and push for the elevator to be repaired ... read more
I moved into one of their communities 12 days ago in hopes to focus on the two years I have just committed to the University of Texas. Yesterday, I went into their Austin headquarters to infer as to what the requirements would be to renew my lease, in hopes I could secure a living space for the entirety of my college career. I was informed that my apartment had been leased to someone else, in 12 days, and in order to secure another unit of equal furnishings there would be a raise on the monthly rate by $200. I am now in my 1... read more

Hi Matthew, thank you for reaching out. We apologize for the frustrations that you have been having. Austin’s leasing season begins in October, so while you recently moved into our community for a short-term lease, this unit has been available for lease since October 2019. We understand this is much earlier than most markets, however, your particular unit has been leased since then. One of the best parts about The Block is that we have 8 different locations and 155 floor plans! We are confident we are able to find an availab... read more
Shady for sure. My daughter and I signed a lease for 2018-19 school year. Multiple leases emailed back and forth due to changes in cost for early move in and then for furniture (which was supposed to be in the apartment upon move-in but wasn't). This was all in August 2018. On September 30th, we were sent another lease. My daughter signed it online nor realizing it was a renewal lease for the following year. ( I know, shouldn't sign without reading). 42 minutes later my daughter emailed them back explaining her error, she wa... read more

Ms. ********, *****did sign a renewal agreement on September 30th. Campustown begins their renewal campaign in the fall to allow current resident the first chance to keep their remaining spot, and each communication is clearly marked as renewal paperwork. As it was a legally binding contract, Campustown did instruct *****about the relet process to find someone to take over the lease once she reached out to us. Campustown offered to relocate *****to a floor plan at a lower price point, but ultimately *****decided to continue ... read more
