The tavern that rose from two fires to be the oldest restaurant in all of the town, is worth going to see based on History alone. The food, too, is a delicious range of traditional, home-cooked fare, made from scratch. The buffet menu offers a different variety of dishes each day and the numerous pies for dessert are a truly mouthwatering end to the meal. There is an event hall that seats up to 150 people. You can also pick up a couple of souvenirs to remember the trip from the small shop before you leave.

RecommendedVisted this place on a Saturday night for some cocktails and dinner. I was impressed with the decor and atmosphere. Being from the city I didn't expect that in a country dinning place. Their Saturday night prime rib was superb, very tasty ,great salad bar. Would recommend for sure if in the Balltown area in Iowa. 👍😊
