Portlanders have long awaited this restaurant since the owner closed Zefiro's. Portland's most elite are again hob-nobbing with each other amidst elegant and trendy surroundings. From the high ceilings to the opulent, mirror-bedecked restrooms, nothing has been overlooked. Wine is available from nearly any region or stick with your usual cocktail from the full bar. Poultry and seafood dominate the expansive menu, but you can also find plenty of pasta and beef. Be sure to leave room for an impressive dessert; like its predece... read more

Slipping . . . – Bluehour is one of my favorites, but last Saturday was a little disappointing. They insisted on 7:45pm instead of my requested 8pm reservation, then wouldn't seat us until 8:20. Plus, I was being pushed by the bar waitress each time she walked by. I usually appreciate the slower pace between courses, but we were left for long periods of time without food or drink. The food didn't meet it's usual standard and my fish was dry. We will still go back, but I won't set my expectations so high.
Wonderful experience! – As a Southern Californian, I don't think Portlanders know how good they have it. I just had an amazing Saturday night dinner at Bluehour; the food was spectacular, the service was flawless, and there was absolutely none of the ridiculous attitude that a restaurant like this would have here in SoCal. The staff was genuinely gracious while still being stylish and hip. Our only quibble was that several other groups of patrons were there in grungy jeans or too-casual outfits. The majority in the dining ro... read more
Portland Gem – One of Portland's power lunch venues, to be sure. We enjoyed the dungeness crab salad sandwich (to die for). The chicken salad sandwich was also tasty but the cheese overpowered the delicate chicken flavors. Hand-made potato chips were fun & innovative. Carrot ginger soup was very good although I think mine is better. Very inquisitive fellow diners (think: LA lunch crowd without the attitude).
Underrated – It is tough to replicate Zefiro's success, and it isn't easy to create in Portland a cool environment for the hip crowd, the beautiful people. They pulled it off. Though so much coolness -borderline discomfort- may put some people off, it is well worth getting over it, and getting in. The food is delicious and well prepared. In small portions, the plates all come out perfect. Flavors and textures are classic and refined at the same time (e.g.: gnocchi appetizer). Nothing exotic - good French/New York fare, well ... read more
Lovely & Amazing – It's easy to see why this place is so busy and well liked. The cuisine is unlike any other in the city - the restraint and flavor is unmatched. The decor makes me feel like "this place gets it." I'm not a happy hour goer but I will say that if you must, this is the place to get it. The selection and the prices are incredible. Where else can you get a bruschetta trio (one including grilled steak with black truffles) for under $5.00? Amazing. Anyone who thinks that the price is too high is blind. I've spent ... read more
Sneaky. – This one sneaks in on the wine angle, and to be fair, I've never even seen their list. Nothing could make me happier, though, than sitting on the deck after attending a tasting somewhere, and having the best happy hour burger in town with a couple of beers or foo-foo cocktails. Burger makes me happy.
I'M A REGULAR – Yes, there is a scene one typically walks into. Yes, the dining room is beautiful. Yes, the drinks are out of this world. I am a regular and eat at this restaurant at least once a week and yes, the food is delicious. I wish there were more restaurants like this one in our city. If you want corporate, boring food and atmosphere like every other restaurant popping up around town, keep surfing. This is place is a leap beyond what you will find anywhere in Portland.
Drinks only please – Portlanders love to eat, and eat well. And this city offers plenty of places to delight our palettes to no end, however, Bluehour is not one of these. Yes, the atmosphere is comfortable and hip; it is THE place in the Pearl to see and be seen. And their seasonal drinks are out of this world, but not their dinner menu. Even though the waiting staff and crowd is buzzing the kitchen is most definately not. The food is ridiculously overpriced, especially in relation to its lack of quality; the pathetic porti... read more
BEST in the Pearl! – Having recently relocated to the Pearl from California, and leaving our very familiar and favorite haunts behind. We can honestly say that we feel as though we have been "adopted" by everyone at BLUE HOUR. The staff is GREAT! The food is beyond!! The crowd decadent!!! GO and enjoy! WE WILL BE!
