I made my reservation 6 weeks before I needed the 20 foot moving truck. Three days before I was scheduled to pick up the moving truck I get an email and voicemail saying they can no longer accommodate my reservation. They tell me that I can be "accommodated" at another location which was 8 miles out of the way. So not only did I have to pay for extra mileage and gas I was sent completely out of my way and U-Haul could have cared LESS. I recently moved to the area. Since I rented a u haul truck I decided to go ahead and store my things at u haul because that was the easiest option. When I rented to storage unit I was told one price, when I went to pay it the next month, the price was $10 higher on my online bill. I called the office the day the bill was due to ask about the discrepancy. UHaul's procedures which include asking the customer to produce a contact with a cell phone who can be called on the spot to verify that the customer is legitimately who they say they are is flawed. Here's why: they do not let the customer know in advance that this is what to expect so the customer is completely unprepared and caught off guard. I went to U-haul to refill some propane tanks. They had some signage indicating where to park and how to pay. I followed those instructions. I couldn't find an employee to fill my tanks. I went inside and waited for about ten minutes. I was approached by an employee who demanded that I move my vehicle. I tried to explain that I was just following their signage and instructions and if they would fill my tanks I'd be on my way. They demanded I move first or they would provide no service. We made a guaranteed reservation, (held with a credit card) to have a hitch installed at 5 PM Saturday July 7th. That morning a littler after 7 AM the technician at the location I was scheduled woke me with a phone call informing me he was not planning on working that late. This is the worst customer service I have EVER received. There were so many problems with my rental I don't know where to begin. I chose to pick up my truck via UHaul 24/7 meaning I didn't have to interact with a representatives on-site. Biggest mistake of my life. After downloading the app I arrived at the parking garage 10 minutes prior to pick-up time to ensure the verification process wouldn't drag into my pickup time. On June 6, 2018 I reserved a 26' truck by calling my neighborhood U-Haul dealer. On June 7th, I received an email confirmation from them with an order number. On July 4, 2018, I received another email letting me know they had a 26' truck reserved and guaranteed for me on my pick up date of July 7 at A DIFFERENT LOCATION than the one I had reserved at. My ordeal started on June 23, 2018 when I and my husband rented a 26’ ft truck online. We scheduled it for next day pickup early morning. However when we got the email confirmation it said 4:30pm pickup. Now we received this confirmation late that evening. We immediately called and was told that the order was going to be cancelled and to just call in the morning to keep that truck. Decided to move my family from Austin, TX to Hartland, WI. Being short on cash, I went with U-Boxes as an inexpensive moving solution. Getting on the phone with U-Haul customer service anywhere usually takes at least 15 minutes of hold time, but for some reason I pressed forward. The boxes showed up at my house in Texas. They're of poor quality. Just a bunch of plywood, wood glue, screws, and staples. They toss a flimsy covering over them to "weather-proof" them.
