I reserved a 26’ truck 4 weeks ago at the U-Haul store, in person, for a move across country. Less than 24 hours before pickup I am notified the truck will not be available. I have movers scheduled, am supposed to start a new job 1700 miles away. What’s even worse, the customer service response was atrocious. They do not care, did not apologize, and were RUDE!

I called u-haul for a price quote for a two wheel dolly and a truck equipped with a receiver hitch. I was quoted $279 for the truck, $5 for an environmental fee, and $59 for the two wheel dolly. This was a combined total of $343. I asked if insurance was required for this through u-haul and I was told it was covered under the drivers insurance. I have rented many uhauls in the past and the service has all ways been outstanding, this time was completely horrible and stressful. I hired UHaul on Main St in Baytown, TX to install a trailer hitch on my 2017 Ford Explorer (contract 23739438). I started having electrical problems with my car and had to take it in to Ford for service. Ford had to keep my car for 4 days (costing me $200.00 for a rental car). Ford advised me that the trailer was wired improperly and that UHaul should have installed a relay between the car's control system and the trailer wiring harness. I have given U-haul my business for multiple years. I chose U-haul for my out of state move and it was the biggest mistake I have done. My first U-Box was being shipped from NYC to Texas. It was sent to a different location that was NOT the one listed on the reservation. On the date of the promised ship date U-haul was unable to find the U-Box. Rented a truck 9/16/18, parked it at a house I purchased, came back on 9/18/18 to move in. The truck was gone, thought it was stolen because there was glass on the ground where it was parked. I reported it stolen. I didn't get an email from uhaul saying they have it in another city until like 4 days later. They try to throw a $900 bill my way. Would give them a zero if I could. They tack on fees at the Hattiesburg uhaul for any thing. It is not in the contract. They said we did not fold blankets and charged us a fee. Then they stated our truck had a sticker in it stating blankets needed to be folded. There was no sign in our truck. They rip you off.

Worse company, ever. Made a reservation for a truck 3 1/2 weeks before my house move. Rec'd a message from U-Haul 24 hours in advance of pick-up that not only did they not have the large truck I reserved, truck pick-up was 1 1/2 hours away from my home...not the pick-up site I specifically reserved just 20 minutes from my home. Customer service....absolutely pathetic!!!! I had to make spontaneous plans to get a moving company to handle our stuff. BBB gives U-Haul 3 3/4 stars? You gotta be kidding!!

BEWARE - they charge for TOLLS that you did not even incur. I have spent 3 days, about 4 hours on the telephone, to dispute a TOLL charge that UHaul notified me of a week after my 1 day rental. My rental was a small open trailer, used it to go about 80 miles one way in central Tennessee to pick up a purchased motorcycle...picked up trailer and returned to same TN location.
