I reserved and paid for a luxury vehicle through ********* only to find out when I get to the Orlando MCO airport Avis location that they no longer had my luxury car available. The rep at the counter said he can give me a larger vehicle and discount the price because Frontier had a deal and the car shortage wasn't my fault. I accepted and told him I already paid the reservation when he asked for credit card to place a "hold" on it for incidentals. Renters take note! Just because you might think being a Preferred Avis member somehow it gets you special privileges... think gain! For our upcoming to Colorado, I didn't have my Avis "Preferred Member" number handy, so I booked the vehicle w/o logging in to my Avis account. The check engine light came on with the Chevy Impala and I had to exchange vehicles. I prepaid for gas but was told when I brought the car with the check engine light back to Avis I had to fill it up with gas. The very rude man told me the fact that I prepaid for gas upfront was not his problem as he was an independent contractor and I could not have the replacement car unless I filled the car I was dropping off with gas. I am an Avis Preferred customer and have rented from them numerous times. I have always been satisfied with my experiences however, this time was horrible. We are going to my daughter's college graduation and have a group of 7 going. We are flying into Destin, FL(VPS) on 5/12/21. On March 9,2021 my daughter was dying, I called and rented a car with Avis at Springfield Branson Airport for my husband to pick up at airport. I paid for rental but when his flight arrived they refused to give it to him or even call me at the hospital to verify, but they charged me for a full week. He tried to use another card, they still refused. My son had to rent another car at more cost, the person was rude, hateful and very unprofessional cold person. I was very disappointed with the level of service I received. I reserved a 7 passenger SUV and the location was unapologetic when they told me that they did not have that vehicle available. I stood there dumbfounded because I had called the day before to confirm the reservation, and was assured that it was available. The clerk and manager offered me a 5 passenger SUV as if that was all they could do as I stood in front of their counter with 7 people and 4 large suitcases. Rented a car at one location online I got off work early when I get there to pick it up there was a sign on the door saying they were closed go to the airport location had to come and get reservationist 2 look at the car it appeared like it had multiple Dent multiple scratches smelled like smoke and wasn't cleaned very well there were hand prints all over the glass very upset because you should not be allowed to rent from a location that is closed they told me I would be reimbursed for the parking they have yet to answer my ... read more

Terrible Service. Booked a car for 8 days and pre-paid it. I called to try and come a day later...nothing else was changing. They told me it wasn't possible and that they would give my car to someone else. If you want a company with service think twice.

We went to Italy on Mar 30th, 2019 to April 12, 2019 and rented a car from Avis company. Everything went well there until two (2) months later, we start getting these outrages charges on our Visa for unexpected tickets. There were 4 tickets of which 3 tickets were of the same day. Avis decided to charge us four times for these tickets and called it admin fees totalling a grand amount of $259.49, just for "admin fees".
