I made a reservation with Avis and made it clear I do not have a credit card at the time. The reservationist said "thats ok you would have to leave a deposit on a debit card attached to a checking account." I said that would be fine and made the reservation. When I landed in Dallas Texas at 10pm on a Friday the lady at the Avis desk ran my credit and told me I could not get a car because my score was to low. I wish I could give zero starts! This is the worst rental company I have ever used and I rent a lot for work. No customer service! All offshore and wait times are over 30 min each time. If you do get someone to answer they hang up on you or are so rude or just transfer you back to the hold line. I've tried for hours to no avail. On top of the vehicle was not ready after an hour of desired time and had scratch and dents all over once you get sent to find it at the airport. Not brought to you as other agencies do. I rented a car from Avis Norfolk Airport...below is the email I sent to their customer complaint center. Complaint is still unresolved...beware of this location. Avis has always been my choice for a car rental for both business and personal use. The experience I had with this rental turned into a stressful, unnecessary, unsafe, nightmare. Âperson at the Avis customer service is a lair and the inexperience clerk at reception cost me extra charges of $883.12. This is the worst car rental in my experience. I am a frequent traveler and I rent cars across the globe. This was my first experience at Avis, PIT AIRPORT. I rented a car from Avis in Phoenix from Apr 18-May 8. Around May 17, while trying to file my travel voucher for work, I realized I had not received my receipt for the car I returned May 8. From May 17, I have had to phone the Avis number EVERY DAY for various complaints and each time I sit on hold for a MINIMUM of 45 minutes. For the past 3 days, I have been told by the representative that manager would be contacting me within 24 hours. Thousands of dollars of hidden fees. I signed up for a $250 car rental and came out with over $1000 of fees added on.

On March 9th, I booked a rental car with an Avis location in Streamwood, Illinois. I was to pick up the car on March 26th and drop it off on April 5th. It was for a standard SUV. My family and I were going to drive to Florida to see my father. On March 26th, I called the location to confirm everything was in order. We rented and prepaid for a car on our vacation and got multiple email confirmations but when we went to pick the car up it was not even available at the location. We were told it should be delivered later in the day but later in the day the car was not there. Our online reservation was then showing that the reason we did not have our car was because we failed to pick it up and we could not be refunded. We rented a car with Avis Fremont who had lured us into signing a false contract, even though we had clearly stated that we did not need add-on "Loss Damage Waiver" insurance for 65.99/day.
