Avis and I had a mix up and there were mistakes made on both sides, however, Avis is charging me $250. Not to mention, I just realized I wasn't really in their preferred program earning points, I have rented a few cars in the last 12 months and just realized I never went in and checked a box to earn points. When you sign up for preferred why would you not automatically earn the points. POOR Customer Service particularly in the FT MYERS AIRPORT location!

08.14.2021 - What a Horrible, Horrible experience I had with Avis! I rented a vehicle from Colorado Springs to drive to Aspen. The car literally stopped on the road 2x forcing me to pull over on the side of the mountain. There was very sketchy phone service and it was very unsafe and dangerous to be on the side of the road with no pull over lane. Had to make a sudden change to a flight schedule last week and fly into Santa Barbara airport. After I made my flight change I logged onto my Avis app and rented a car to be picked up at the Santa Barbara airport. When our flight got in to the airport just before 7 PM we discovered that the Avis car rental counter was unoccupied. Worst rental company ever. Never have vehicles even though they say that they confirmed its there. Then also have to wait 3 to 5 business days for return of funds after they false represent their vehicle availability. Worst experience ever do not recommend AVIS !!!

Waited in line for over an hour while other competitors in the same airport were seemingly processing there customers efficiently! When I returned the car, I was told a receipt would be mailed to me within 3 business days and here it is a week later! I'll never use AVIS again nor will my employees! If there was a negative star, they would deserve it!
This was not a good experience at all. They should have said what the rules were prior to me showing up with my child. Instead once I got there they couldn't rent me a car but wanted to know things like what hotel I'm staying at or I need someone to come into the business and rent the car for me despite the fact that I'm out of town. I felt like I was being profiled. Wouldn't accept my form of payment but failed to work with me or tell me upfront over the phone. I think they pick who and how they are going to rent to.
Under no circumstances should you ever rent from this company. I was told upon arrival that there was no car for me and the gentleman behind the counter made zero, and I mean zero, effort to rectify the situation. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with customer service they instructed me to rent a car from a separate company with reimbursement of the difference to follow. I followed up with their customer service with all of the requested info to receive the refund and have waited a month for a response. Today I receive... read more

Disappointed. On Saturday, August 7 I picked up a Car From Budget in Detroit DTW. A month early I had booked the car online from Budget and asked for an economy (lower priced) car. When I got to the counter, there was no Budget counter, there Was only Avis. There also no Payless, but Avis advertises under one umbrella for Avis-Budget-Payless. But it's really AVIS.
