I had a family vacation trip to Orlando in July. They rent me a damage car(battery dead) they send me an assistant and replaced my old car for a different one, there they was amazing, but here come the "funny" thing. Scammers even when you prepay! Rented a Mustang or similar and added insurance, SC driving. Prepaid $176 for one day, was charged $507 after I requested to bring the car back a few hours later since my flight was delayed, was feeling great and I could stay in my hotel. I was asked if I purchase insurance and said yes, was told no problem as long as I had it back by 4pm. Had it back by 3:32 and attempting to deal with them has been a NIGHTMARE! First time renting with Avis, and last time. Had a flat tire on the highway, and there was no spare provided. Called Avis customer support, was told our options were to have the car towed and get transportation to the airport to get it replaced, or wait 4-6 hours for roadside assistance to fix the tire. Considering we didn't want to be sitting in 95° Knoxville on the side of the road, not to mention waiting until after dark for assistance, we opted for towing. I do travel frequently for business. In fact, my travel percentage is 75% of the year. I have never come across with something what I have experienced yesterday ( 07/20/2021 )at Atlanta airport. My flight landed right on time a little after noon and when I showed up to Avis counter, I saw at least 200 people before me. I was curious and had no clue why I have to go through this. On line experience cost me an extra $2200!! Had to get my credit card company to refund the difference. For Rental Agreement number #*********, I had to change my drop off location from Minneapolis to Washington DC. I was quoted an extra $260 through the online web flow, for changing the location. I was totally fine with that. When I dropped off the car, they charged me an extra $2200, due to a .99 cent charge per mile, that they claim was due to my drop off location change. After a wonderful initial experience with Avis, we are completely disappointed with their customer service and additional fees. We were charged an added fee for insurance we did not ask for. The customer service representative was incredibly rude when we disputed it by phone. Then two weeks later, we received notice that we were charged $450 for a heavy smoke smell. This is impossible. Not reliable at all! Booked and paid for a vehicle March 15 for our vacation July 10,2021. Received a text and email from Avis confirming our reservation a couple days before our pick up, but the day I was supposed to pick up vehicle they called informing me they didn't have a vehicle for me Had to take two vehicles- 2 adults and 4 children. I booked a 1 day round trip rental through Avis Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
