rented a car for a personal trip to ft lauderdale, got the car ok and did my stuff around. returned the car more than 1hour before due (due at 9:30, returned around 7:40pm), left the car in the return queue and headed to the terminal, got email confirming the car was returned and processed at 8pm. next day go to the site to get the invoice and it shows car returned at 10:45pm with 1 hour extra charged plus 1 day of extra insurance. I got charged 280 dollars because their cars battery needed a jump start. I had to pay for the poor quality of their rental cars. Definitely a terrible experience. I will Never rent from them again.

Id give a Zero if i could, i rented a car through Avis/**** partnerships, when receiving the car it looked OK, but after driving at night i noticed people flashing me from behind, i then checked and found the break light was out, also when it rained the wiper blades were worn down to nothing and even smeared the glass making it difficult to see (these were two basic safety issues so i can tell they don't check the cars before they rent them out). i complained and was told to take it to a garage miles away so i just decided t... read more

Terrible customer service and misrepresentation! When you return a car early you are penalized and are not refunded your money. I will pay for the days I rent the car but not for days after I returned the car! That's crazy!

Avis gave us a car in which a tire was leaking air. The tire went flat after the first day and Avis didn't send out road service to fix the tire. They didn't give us a car we could drive either. So we paid $600.00 for a car that sat at our hotel with a flat tire. We had to find other means of transportation for our vacation. Now Avis is charging us another $295.00 to fix the tire they rented us. So we are paying Avis $900.00 !

Rented a car from Avis. The first rental I refused, due to the car smelling of smoke. The second rental, we only checked the odometer, and outside marks on the car. The car that was given to me had a white scratch, bigger than a dollar bill that was not noticed by the person renting me the car. Already you can tell, Avis does not thoroughly check their cars, as I was going to be given a rental that smelled of smoke and two be blamed for a scratch on the car I did not do, if I didn't catch it on the walk through. No stars. ZERO! Just tried to rent a car with a coupon that Avis provided after renting me a dud on my last rental. SUV for moving whose back hatch wouldn't open. $40 for my trouble was all they would offer and I moved along bc I didn't want to create drama. Now, I go to use the coupon to reserve a car and get the Pay Later cost, only for that cost to go up $100 from the Reserve Now screen to the Confirmation email. Rented a car in kona to travel to Hilo. Got in when closing due to delays. Shuttle was great. However, attendant did not attend. We took pictures and exhaustion left for 2 hour drive to other side of island. Mdway realized a tire was low. Next day paid to refill it. Later in a rain storm realized wipers were terrible. The rest of the trip was air refills and caution due to wipers on rainy island. Notified attendant at drop off. Our reward..... we are responsible for the tire and administrative costs. I rented a car through Avis for a month which was fine. I found out I had a leak in the drivers side rear tire which my son-in-law filled for me. Approximately one week later the tire was low again and I didn't want to bother my son in law again so I called Avis which liked me to their roadside service. I reported to them the problem and sometime later someone showed up to fill the tire.
