Nice atmosphere, but BLAND food – Went w/friends on a Saturday. Had a decent enough time. Atmosphere is cool in terms of how it looks, inside. SOMEWHAT on the upscale looking side. (Considering Portland DOESN'T have many cool places) Aura's upper level bar: great for ordering cocktails. (downstairs bar crowded at times). Dancefloor music I DIDN'T like though. (but if you're into hip-hop/pop/top 40's, then this is the place for you!) Ordered a few appetizers I DON'T recommened ordering: Spinach Dip was VERY bland, boring in f... read more

Great Place – First of all its one of only 2 non smoking clubs I know of...which is wonderful. The club is beautiful, and while it may be hard to get the wait staff to your table after 10, if you walk up to any of the 3 bars you get served quickly esp. if a bartender named Ryan is behind it. I do have to say they used to be stricter on the dress code but this is a place where you can show up dressed in jeans and a nice shirt or top, or go NY club dress style, black slacks and more formal top and still fit in just fine.

The "aura" of contempt for the customer – ~30 friends came to hear our favoite artist Patrick Lamb as Auras website. The absurdity began with Happy Hour. The "mini-burger" was a joke..it's the size of half-dollar for $3.00. Then, biting into it, it was white..beef should be brownish. Servers answeroh its chicken"oh well." Drink was a Lemon-Drop..really mostly Sugar-Drop. Maybe they are cutting costs! The group was moved to couch area with the movable partitions between. Asked if they could open the partions...was told "no...... read more

Major disapointment – I was visiting from Montreal, Canada, and decided to go to Aura on a Saturday nite. The food was Ok - a bit pricy - but that's expected. The portions were good and tasty. But at 10:30 pm or so the DJ started to spin and people started to dance.. BAD music. BAD BAD really OLD music. people are dressed casual - no dress code. there were ppl with sneakers and baseball hats... I would not go there but this is rated high by Portlanders! go figure!

Cilitini...the best! – Their Cilitini has highly addictive qualities to it, and you can special order it with Petron for a totally different twist. The dancing and atmosphere is great and not too edgy, too snobby, too anything...good balance of people. It's hard to leave, but when you do, you won't smell like smoke because it's nonsmoking. A great club!

Searching for my friend, Pablo – Aura makes a difference in PDX's night life. It feels good to see that someone has a better idea of how a club should be like. Pablo, we've been there Friday, Sept. 10th '04. You know who you are and who I am, so please give me a sign, "blue eyes."

A Gamble – This place is a gamble, as demonstrated by the severe contradictions between reviews. The first time I went there early, 6pm, and had a decent dinner of mini-burgers with wierd fried sweet potato fries. (weird because they were like shoestring potatoes from a can) The cocktail was good but pricey. The service was helpful. The second time I went later and the place was packed with dancers, diners and drinkers. We were forgotten/ignored by the waitress twice. The food was lukewarm and mediocre (shrimp skewers overdo... read more

Better places to spend money! – For the prices and service you are forced to put up with this place is not worth it. Nice atmosphere, but that's about all this place has going for it!

Surprisingly good food/sexy atmosphere. – Stunning food (seriously, I was shocked at the excellent execution of the menu) in a very sexy atmosphere. Upscale NYC-esque vibe, circa 1995--nonetheless, it's still ahead of it's time for Portland. The crowd ranged from young professionals to labelwhore types, on-the-prowl suits, and couples just out to chat and enjoy the mileu. Menu: try the hazelnut encrusted halibut--flaky and perfectly breaded, served with some of the best garlic mashers ever. Grilled mango w/ wasabe icecream i... read more
