About this business

Nestled in the Canton area of Baltimore,Annabel Lee Tavern is a local favorite named after a well known poem by the city's own Edgar Allen Poe. The cuisine is a level above the usual tavern fare, with mouth-watering dishes like the goat cheese fruit plate, pan seared duck breast, rosemary beef tenderloin gyro and a select number of gourmet desserts. According to some, the best part of their menu is the Poe themed cocktail list and variety of local brews. Whether you're coming here for a date with that special someone or just... read more

Two words. Lamb risotto. The lamb risotto was amazing. Perfectly creamy and comforting on a cold fall night. I was excited to have enough for left overs. The atmosphere was very quaint and we will definitely be back again..

My favorite tavern in Maryland. I love the Edgar Allen Poe theme! But my favorite dish is the BBQ shrimp and honey grits! The owner and employees make it their business to see you are having a good time!

Business response:

That we do, Nancy. It's an honor to be your favorite tavern. -Kurt, Owner

I just had dinner with two friends and we were extremely pleased with our experience. Upon entering we all noticed the Poe theme through the tavern. Our server, Jeff, was wonderful; he was personable , knowledgable of the menu and history of the tavern. Our food was delicious. We ordered stuffed shrimp and the rib platter. We also had duck fat fries for an appetizer. The fries were amazing. We ended our meal with dessert; which our table had the taramissu, salted caramel cake and the rum bread pudding. Undoubtedly our favorite restaurant. Not only is the staff excellent, the food is incredible. The atmosphere is dark and cool, in the greatest way. Duck fat fries are an absolute MUST. These crab cakes are the kind that make MD known for crab cakes- perfect. We look forward to many more date nights at our favorite spot. Kurt, we love you! ❤️

Business response:

It's always a pleasure to have your compliments, Ashley. You know how much it means to us to be your favorite spot in the city. Thank you for everything, and bring on the date nights! -Kurt, Owner

What a rare gem! Delivered on every course! Cocktails, wine , beer list delicious! Appetizers oh my a taste bud explosion of goodness. Crab cake entree the best crab cake I have ever eaten. I ate here 2 years ago and remember the crab cakes and needed to go back this second time while in the city. Did not disappoint - absolutely amazing and this from someone that spent summer weekends on the river and have eaten a lot of crab cakes. Salty caramel cake and Poe Pate amazing finish to a completely perfect 10 dining experience.

Business response:

From the moment you walk in we want to provide you with one of the best dining experiences you'll ever have, and we're certainly glad to have been able to do that for you, Elaine. Thank you for coming back after a couple of years -- it means a lot that you remembered us after all that time. -Kurt, Owner
