Six months into my pregnancy with my son, a doctor I was seeing at Delnor found Transposition of the Great Arteries in his heart. We were set up so my boyfriend and I could stay at the Ronald McDonald House near Lurie Children’s, I would give birth at Prentice Women’s Hospital, then my son would be taken to Children’s to have his open heart surgery a few days later.
