Gas Pains. After high prices and bad delivery during the initial use, we cancelled the service in 2018. Their tanks then sat on our property for over two years. Then one day, unannounced, during the March / April peak of COVID-19 in California, an Amerigas driver pulls up, parks, exits his vehicle without a mask and proceeds to walk towards me. I asked him to put on a mask to which he replied, "I already had the virus and I'm fine." After a very heated exchange of words, he finally left the property. Then I got a bill for "s... read more

Business response:

Mr. Staskewicz, after investigating the concerns raised in your complaint it has been noted that the local manager did attempt to resolve the concerns you had with the service technician as well as with your billing. The bill was reduced by half in an attempt to find a "middle ground" resolution. Again, we apologize for the unsatisfactory experience with the service technician. We value your feedback as we are always striving to better each and every customer interaction.

They charged me a rediculous 36.00 late charge on an 85.22 tank rental bill. Obsurd late charge after 30 days only

Business response:

Russell, as with many companies, invoices are due 30 days after the original posting date. Additionally, the Late Fee policy is outlined in our Terms and Conditions for complete transparency. These Terms and Conditions can be accessed anytime via AmeriGas.com or can be mailed/emailed to you upon request.

Switched to a competitor and was told tank had to be 5% or below to avoid a pump out charge. Was never informed that there was a fee just to pick up the tank! Called on December 23rd to have the tank picked up and was told that was not their highest priority...it might be a while. Waited 2 months for them to pick up the empty tank at the end of February and then received a $69.99 bill! Ridiculous. How about a fee for storing their tank on my property for two months??? I paid these people thousands of dollars for propane over... read more

Business response:

Ridiculous that they are charging a pick up fee of $89 to come out and pick up tanks. Also you get no credit for unused propane. What a waste. Encouraged to drain to less than 5 lbs or would be charged more. Tanks were almost full. Instead of offering to maybe a family who needed it, I am told to waste it. Poor business practice. Closing account. Feel I should not pay for pickup since driver will swing by next time in area.

Business response:

Jane, the charge for removal is currently set at $69.99 + tax, to confirm that you were not overcharged for this service a review of your account was performed. After review of your account, this was the charge you received. As with other companies we do charge to send our technicians to customer locations to perform service. Removal of a propane tank cannot be completed by a delivery driver as they do not have the proper equipment to do so. Return for propane in the tank at the time of removal is outlined in our Terms and C... read more

Be careful with Amerigas. After a long term user of Amerigas I went to disconnect my Mother's service because of her death. They charge a $69.99 disconnection fee and they DONOT reimburse for gas that is in the tank.

Business response:

Brenda, I do apologize for the passing of your mother. As for the charges associated with the closure of the account, removal of the tank as well as our policies regarding a refund for the propane left in the tank upon removal are outlined in our Terms and Conditions for transparency. With the information provided, I am unable to review your mother's previous account with us and therefore unable to see if we can provide any relief for previous charges. If you wish for further review to be completed please provide additional ... read more

This company will gouge you on gas prices so much. They go around and purchase smaller gas companies and then jack up the prices. When looking around at the local companies the prices are anywhere from $1.09 to $1.29. However AmeriGas feels like $2.35 is not price gouging. I can’t move their tank fast enough to bring in another company. Where I literally will be paying half of what I’ve been forced to pay when they bought the smaller company out. Do Not Do business with this company. If they buy your smaller company run run ... read more

I would like to give a rating of zero or below. Excessive pricing and excessive fees! They charged $100 for me to lock-in a price that is over $1.00 above the market price. It's snowing outside and I am freezing because I can't afford to, and refuse to, pay $2.99 a gallon for a tank fill. And there will be a $100 "tank rent" fee for their 25 year old tank if I don't buy more propane. And there is a $100 fee if I run out. My furnace is shut off. My contract is up May 31 and I and DONE. Amerigas prices as though they are a mon... read more

They ferused us propane during the coronavirus, we owe about 200.00, and won't give us any more, we are elderly and disabled, we were making regular payments

Business response:

The local office has made multiple attempts to assist with the financial aspect of your account. It has been confirmed that there was no interruption in service due to a lock-off of your propane tank; however, the delivery was delayed due to a past due balance on the account. The local office worked with the state to assist with payment to your account and made delivery the same day that payment was confirmed. We are striving to provide excellent customer service, especially during these trying times of Covid-19. If you shou... read more

They are horrible. They overcharge for their gas in Texas, and by a lot. They also let my tank run dry, even though I was on the “autofill” plan. I switched suppliers in January 2020. It’s now April and they still have not picked up their tank from my property— it’s a real eyesore. They deserve to go out of business.

Business response:

Contact occurred between the district manager and the Redman's to discuss pricing options as well as other concerns. The local office does apologize for the delay in the removal of the tank, and the removal is scheduled to occur on 4/10/2020. We do hope to obtain another chance to provide excellent customer service in the future.
