AmeriGas has terrible customer service. My whole experience with the Lakeland office has been horrilbe. I have switched gas companies and will never use AmeriGas again and I will tell everyone I know to avoid them at all costs.

Business response:

Ms. Heddon, we apologize that the local office could not meet your customer service expectations. The local representatives attempted to rectify the situation by offering credits to the account when interruptions of service did occur, due to inconsistent propane usage. We do take any complaint very seriously and it is our mission to continually improve our processes.

One star is too much for this Propane company. They are more interested in charging fees and punitive charges than selling propane. They lie when talking to you and make up stories to justify charging punitive charges. To make matters worst, if you do not pay the unjust punitive charges they add an additional fee of $35 a month until the silly fees are paid. If not paid they send your information to a collecting agency to further harass you. My advice is to stay away from this propane company because they are relentless and ... read more

Would give 0 stars but that is not an option. I called to set up service for my new mobile home at a mobile home park. At first I was told no problem, they took all the information and that someone would call me back with my account number and payment. I recived no call so I called them, the first time I was told there was no meter on my lot and hung up on. I called back the next day and am now being told that they are not adding any new meters at this time and that I would have to get a propane tank on my lot and go with a ... read more

Business response:

Initially, there were delays with setting up the account due to the inability to access the home during scheduled appointment times. Additionally, the local office did have to convert some appliances to be compatible with propane before set-up could be completed. Service was initiated and there is currently an account open under account number 103900725. We apologize for any delay or confusion surrounding your initial set-up.

A year being customer = $175.00 a month. Not a customer = $36.00 a month when not paid in full. Average propane a YEAR 300.00 gal. No other propane company around area. GREEDY

Business response:

AmeriGas takes on full responsibility for maintaining company owned propane tanks set at our customer's properties. In order to offset the costs of this regular maintenance we do charge an annual tank rental charge, which is outlined in our Terms and Conditions. We encourage you to contact your local office to resolve your balance in order to avoid further late fee charges to the account. AmeriGas offers payment plans, along with other courtesies to help customer's settle balances.

Max S. My complaints are the same as the rest: price gouging, excessive fees and poor service. They asked me why I was cancelling: I said "You are price gougers". They shook their heads and said" it was the same oId story" . They said their is a $60 pick up fee. I never signed a contract, I just took over their service when I bought the house. I had been a customer for 5 years. The final straw is that I finally cancelled and they won't pick up their empty 500 gallon tank sitting in my driveway for 5 weeks. I live only 2 mile... read more

Business response:

After investigating this matter it has been confirmed that AmeriGas has retrieved the tank from the property at no cost. We apologize for the inconvenience that this situation may have caused.

PROFESSIONAL, KNOWLEDGEABLE, CARING, KIND, FRIENDLY, SUPERIOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, BEST OF THE BEST.Totally Amazing! It just doesn't get any better than this. Technician Lewis just called us to see if we were okay. We have an appointment coming up for a fill up, and since we are new to having propane, he wanted to make sure we were okay. He wanted us to check the level, so we did and all is well, but the expression of thoughtfulness to keep us in mind in the midst of a jam packed schedule is PHENOMENAL AND A WHOLE NEW LEVEL OF ... read more

Bought a new house that has Amerigas service. Called Monday to arrange service. Was told the local office would call me. 5 days later local office hasn't called so I call them. "We need to leak check the tank (even though it is their tank and is currently in use) and then you can order gas" "When is leak check" "Earliest we can do is 7 days from now" Tank is now at 5%. Tomorrow I will not have heat (gets below zero at night), no hot water, no cooking. In 7 days I will THEN be able to order gas and who knows when it will be d... read more
