Very few providers take ASH because they pay out so little and inconsistently with other insurance companies. They are AWFUL to work with both as a provider and as a participant. Their customer service is terrible. Their claims process is unbelievably outdated. This is the worst insurance company and they just have a good sales team that they sold into major insurance companies taking over chiropractic and acupuncture claims processing. This company doesnt care about people.

ASH has a reputation of interfering with doctors ability to care for patients. They continually deny claims for medical care. This is not new. There are class action lawsuits all over the country against ASH for similar claims. Failure to authorize treatments, Patient claims denied, restrictions of care due to pre authorization delays after every 5 visits. I am experiencing this myself first hand. After surgery I was denied physical therapy sessions because they deemed them medically unnecessary. Even after peer-to-peer meet... read more

ASH is refusing to issue payments to my provider for services I receive **** months ago. My insurance company has confirmed they issued the payments to ASH as the intermediary and insurance said the costs should be covered. My provider is now charging me since they have never gotten payment. This company has a history of fraudulent actions with non-payments or delayed payments (class action lawsuit) and seems to be at it again in my case.

Business response:

Thank you very much for reaching out.. It appears there is a misunderstanding, as I see all claims have been finalized with payment sent to your provider where applicable. We will go ahead and reach out to your provider early this week to confirm receipt of payment and to assist with any questions. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to investigate and ensure your concerns have been addressed. In good health,ASH Group

I was just denied my physical therapy with a provider, that ASH told me that was on their plan, and now they are telling that the provider is not on their plan. I am very confused. I really need this physical therapy in order to get better from my operation on my shoulder. I went they wanted me to go, and now they deny the services after I have went to several sessions. Who is going to pay my bills? I am fed up with this mess.

Business response:

Sir, thank you for reaching out. I think there is a misunderstanding. We will happily reach out to your provider to make sure there is no confusion.

I think *** is simply a ***** from insurance providers - in the case CIGNA - not to pay on claims. I had a hip and knee issue (torn meniscus) which required PT pre-op to help prevent me from walking unbalanced with a painful pronounced limp and post-op. The *** doctor/bureaucrat, who probably in a dark room shuffling papers, determined that the hip work was chiropractic and unnecessary and therefore denied my physical therapists claim. It has taken a month to resolve the billing issue, a month in which I didn't have post-op ... read more

Good at the beginning but no customer service. They hang up on you and will cancel your service with no worries about why. I have the chats with screenshots that show how little they care. Will be posting the response from the email I sent with that chat to see if corporate cares.

I have been battling Multiple Sclerosis for almost 20 years. About 5 years ago, I starting receiving acupuncture from a wonderful, licensed professional in my community. This treatment changed my life for the better and I've been having treatment every 2-3 weeks ever since. I have enjoyed excellent coverage from CIGNA until September 2021 when the processing of the service was handed over to American Specialty Health. Since then, every single treatment has been denied! I can no longer utilize a medical therapy that has radic... read more

I do not understand why CIGNA continues to work with a company is DENY first or demand additional information.I feel this is a way for both CIGNA and ASH to deny services ************ is what is wrong with health care in America

Business response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. Hopefully, I can clarify what appears to be a misunderstanding. Our participating providers are evaluated annually on their adherence to quality care measures and metrics based on peer reviewed clinical and administrative criteria. This allows participating providers to treat each patient up to a certain number of visits each benefit year before any clinical documentation is required to be submitted. If additional care is required after this initial trial of care, we work... read more
