I am a medical provider who stopped working in network with **** due primarily to unjustified denials of patients benefits: they promise the patient member a total number of visits/year and don't explain that after 5 visits further claims will be subject to medical necessity review. Even after the practitioner completes the lengthy review process they will routinely deny sessions. I have 25 years experience as a medical practitioner, in private practice, and routinely write successful medical necessity reports for workers co... read more

Business response:

Ms. W*******, thank you for providing feedback. Participating providers benefit from our Clinical Performance system, which allows in-network providers to demonstrate their implementation of evidence-based practices and have the level of accountability reduced. For our national Acupuncture programs, nearly a third of all participating acupuncturists have no utilization management review at all. Nearly 75% of patients who went through our acupuncture program did so with automatically approved care. Of the 25% of patients who ... read more

Don't waste your time with this company. I've had a gym membership through them since 2019 and they have been terrible to work with. Customer services is a joke and they deactivate and reactivate my membership on a regular basis. The discounted membership is NOT worth the headache of constantly calling them and sorting out their lack of organization.

Business response:

Dear Ms. J, We’re sorry for your negative experience with Active&Fit Direct. I have made several attempts to contact you, which unfortunately, have been unsuccessful. I sent you an email on 3/18/21 providing some information regarding your concerns. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly via the email or phone number provided, if you have any questions. I look forward to connecting with you. Pedro Yong Supervisor, Fitness Member Experience 858.754.2000 x 3578 \ ASHCOMPANIES.COM Inc. 5000 - Fastest Growing Private ... read more

this business is dangerous you sign up thinking you will save on Fitness center subscription but you end up paying way more because you cannot cancel the enrollment they will keep charging credit card even after you substitute with a different new one, several calls to customers service with agents that are trained to lie and know when to be rude to terminate the call.

Business response:

Ms. A******, We're sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. I attempted to contact you on 3/10/21 and 3/11/21 however it was unsuccessful. I would be happy to review your concerns if you could please contact me at the phone number or email address indicated in the email I sent to you today. I look forward to hearing from you.

Awful, dishonest, shameful business. The company is set up to at all costs not cover care. They guise their denial of care under a false veil of medical necessity, but go above and beyond EVERY insurance/managed care company standards to deny patients care they need. After COUNTLESS calls with McCarty, Taylor, and other CQEs their intention is clear and obvious, to deny as much coverage as legally possible. These doctors are scummy and dishonest and should be ashamed of themselves for denying patients care for medically nece... read more

Dr. *********, Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. ASH takes pride in its Clinical Performance system, which allows In-Network providers to demonstrate their implementation of Evidence-Based practices and have the level of accountability reduced. Nearly 90% of patients who went through our chiropractic program did so with no required reviews (i.e., automatically approved care). Of t... read more

Absolutely terrible company to deal with!!!!! My Medicare Advantage Plan provides Silver and Fit benefits and I found out that I am able to get workout equipment and DVDs free so that I can work out at home until the Covid-19 vaccine is an option for safety. I ordered both the equipment and the DVDs on January 8. I received the equipment 7 days later from a third party but I have yet to receive the DVDs. After numerous calls, I have been given so many excuses I can't even name them all. USPS too busy, shortage of products, d... read more

3 years later, ASHN still has money they owe me by taking it from my HSA through my husbands employer. I paid my chiropractor for services and ASHN took the same amount from me... essentially I double paid for services. Have sent documentation numerous times. Can't call them direct. Run around all the time. Criminal. ASHN IS CRIMINAL in their practice and yet, still have a business.

Business response:

Dear Ms. M*****, We appreciate your feedback and apologize that your experience is not aligned with our effort to provide excellent service to our participating providers and the customers we serve. Your health plan has retained responsibility for communications directly with its customers, but you can call your health plan and speak with a health plan representative and ASH. To prevent further inconvenience, we have identified all of your claims and are working with your health plan to ensure your claims are paid through yo... read more

Active and Fit will not reimburse my annual gym membership cost with 24Hr Fitness as advertised. This has happened each of the two years I have applied. 2017- I was misled to believe that I needed 45 visits in a one year period to qualify for reimbursement. In reality, it was 45 visits within the remaining months of the calendar year I enrolled (Sept-Dec). In only those four months I completed 32 visits. Is the goal to scam the customer or reward a healthy lifestyle? Lost $200. 2020- I have a PDF from 24Hr fitness showing my... read more

ASH pays massage therapists less than half of what most insurance companies pay and their provider contracting reps are unhelpful at best. I sent in a notice to quit my contract as a massage therapist because of the hassle to get paid such a small amount and I can get more as an out of network provider and billing the insurance directly. I called two months later and they claim they never received it (I even have the fax confirmation that it went through) and that I’m still under contract and have to re-send my notice then c... read more

This place knows nothing about medical necessity and in no way should be involved in deciding people's coverage. I was out twice on disability last year and my insurance uses ASH to handle their billing claims. Apparently ASH has their own standards of what they deem as "medically necessary" and does their best to avoid covering/paying for treatment that is medically necessary. I had 3 physicians confirm that my treatment was medically necessary and I even ended up in the ER because I could not afford my treatment out of poc... read more

Business response:

Ms. T*****, thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry for the frustration you have experienced during a very difficult year. Based on the details you provided, I was able to identify that your provider is participating with ASH Group. All medical necessity determinations are made by peer reviewers of the same provider specialty. ASH encourages dialogue between its in-house physical therapists and the treating providers of physical therapy services. After any medical necessity determination, participating providers have the oppo... read more
