SHAME. YOU PLACE MONEY HIGHER THAN YOUR OWN ETHICS.
By making the decision to continue accepting sponsorship from Exxon, the AGU board has ignored the pleas of 300 prominent climate scientists, hundreds of AGU members, and 56,000 petition signers. The AGU decision also renders the organization's own sponsorship policy meaningless, since the policy explicitly bars AGU from receiving funds from companies that disseminate misinformation about science.
It's upsetting that this organization would accept Exxon's money. I find it disheartening that, although I am just a clinical research technician, I still see the lack of ethics the AGU clearly has. The worst part is, y'all will probably simply wait for the outrage to die down, and continue to take money from what is clearly one of the top funders of anti-global warning propaganda.
Please explain why this organization accepts money from Exxon, a company known to desseminate misinformation about climate science. Thank you in advance.
Dirty money from Exxon over climate science? I'm disappointed.
Accepting money from Exxon is in direct conflict with your stated mission. Please reconsider your decision.
No respectable science institution should accept money from Exxon #ExxonKnew #CETOWaveEnergy
Taking Exxon and the big bucks over climate change. Disgusting liars.
The decision to continue accepting funding from Exxon is shameful. You need to change course, get your house in order, and start figuring out a way to regain some of your lost credibility.
