When a restaurant is co-owned by celeb-chef Agostino Sciandri and Hollywood heavyweights such as Robert De Niro and Ridley Scott, you know it is exclusive. Ago is an Italian trattoria straight out of the book—wooden furniture, a terracotta floor, and cypress trees recreate the magic of the Mediterranean, while the menu boasts of such lip-smacking fare as chicken cooked in herbs, baby rack of lamb with roast potatoes, and whitefish with spinach and sautéed artichoke. The wine-list is impeccable, the ambiance unbe... read more

Horrible Service – The first time my husband and I went to Ago we had a decent meal and enjoyed the experience. We decided to go back and take our out of town guests there on a Saturday night. The food was below average and the servise was horrendous. My husband ordered the Chilean sea bass special, which was awful! After sending it back for some simple pasta, we waited over a half hour for his meal. The table was cleared, the group waited 30 minutes, (asking where his food was multiple times) he finally got his pasta. The w... read more
Happening is Right – I went for dinner on a Tuesday and the restaurant and bar area were so packed I couldn't hear my friends across the table. But apparently that's why you go to Ago. The restaurant is small and warmly decorated, and the wait staff is pretty attentive, though not necessarily friendly. The food is very expensive, but there are the rare deals thrown in. "It's a rich-man, poor-man type of food," Chef Agostino says on the restaurant's Web site, and he's right. The $12 Zuppa del Golfo soup (like cioppino) I orde... read more
Desserts are fabulous, food is another story... – For such a swanky, scenester-type place and the prices of the food here, you would think the quality would match - and it did, the first time I went to Ago. However, the second time a couple of weeks ago was the exact opposite. I brought an out of town friend to this restaurant on her one night free from work, which I regretted. Appetizers were so-so and the pasta dishes were VERY salty, so much so that she sent her plate back. Our simpatico waiter did hook us up with an amaz... read more
Ago is a "No-Go" – My daughter and I had dinner here and were very disappointed. We were seated and waited on promptly until someone more important arrived. I ordered a house salad that was so heavy on the dressing that the lettuce was "wet". My main entree was veal picata. There were four small pieces of veal and a "pile" of cooked spinach. The veal was moderatly warm to cold, so I sent it back. It was obviously microwaved because when it was served to me again, the veal was about as tough as shoe leather. The waiter really... read more
You will feel like you are in Italy! – This place is full of charm! I have lived in LA for 3 years and go here at least 2x a month! Great food, authentic accented servers lol, Peach Martinis that will take you to a new place! Lots of celebs, beautiful people, and wonderful food choices... Make a reservation or you will be banished.
Gnocchi just how you like it – The service is always excellent and you can never go wrong ordering from this menu. Sunday nights are always slower and they pay extra attention to you and your table. The whitefish is excellent - the gnocchi divine and the pizzas are perfect
Simple, warm and delicious – I go to Taste often and I've always wanted to try this place next door. The ambiance is nice, nothing too extravagant or overly hip but just right. All the desserts are on this table you have to walk by, so cover your eyes if you are on a diet! Haha. Our server was awesome, his recommendations were on point and the food came out in around 10 minutes. The swordfish I had was right in the sweetspot between tender and firm and the spinach was great. I am on a diet so I can't comment on the desserts,... read more
Go for the party! – This is not the place to take someone you want to impress with conversation. The people watching is amazing...with or without a celebrity sighting. The lobster risotto was tasty...could have used a bit less olive oil, the beet salad was great and not a typical menu item. The best was Francesco, our waiter! We were seated directly in front of the dessert table so we saw everyone and everything. Francesco could not have been more attentive or charming. Next time I will ask to sit on the patio to see if it r... read more
DeNiro - Stick to the movies... – This is possibly the worst Italian restaurant in Los Angeles. Prior to being seated, had to sift thru the crowded bar to get a drink... Drinks were good, however once we were seated at a cramped table with my girlfriend; we proceeded to eat a 3 course meal in less than an hour? Rushed? YES! They must prepare all of their food, because our food was delivered within 2 minutes of ordering, and taken away before I could even finish... I had the Lamb-shank special, which was on top of risotto whi... read more
