About this business

When a restaurant is co-owned by celeb-chef Agostino Sciandri and Hollywood heavyweights such as Robert De Niro and Ridley Scott, you know it is exclusive. Ago is an Italian trattoria straight out of the book—wooden furniture, a terracotta floor, and cypress trees recreate the magic of the Mediterranean, while the menu boasts of such lip-smacking fare as chicken cooked in herbs, baby rack of lamb with roast potatoes, and whitefish with spinach and sautéed artichoke. The wine-list is impeccable, the ambiance unbe... read more

Valentine's Day Nightmare – My boyfriend flew all the way out from New Jersey for a special Valentine's Day. He chose Ago for a special romantic Italian dinner. The experience was not romantic, nor special. I felt so bad that he had spent the airfare for such a miserable evening. Even with reservations, we had to stand at the crowded bar, elbow room only, waiting 30 minutes, only to be seated in a corner next to the outdoor dining section. It was so cold we could not take off our coats. I think I saw the waitor twice, once t... read more

Los Angeles Italian at its best! Uber Fabulousness Itailian is delivered in perfect doses! – When you make it through the packed door... passing over celebrity after celebrity you will be treated to a fan-fare of perfection! Sit on the Patio it is ever so lovely! Of course have the concogtion of the night with a delightful and sinfully wicked Peach Martini!

Spa-esque and delightful – I read so many negative reviews about this restaurant and they were all wrong. Must have been submitted by a bunch of savages looking for California Pizza Kitchen...or should I say CPK...instead of an amazing, authentically italian dinner. Pricey for sure but we were treated like a king, queen and prince. Terrific. Americans and weird tacky eurotrash looking for 600 pound plates of food served with a craven, hooters-esque suburban "flair", please stay far, far away.

Rude wait staff, treated like my money was no good – I was in town for a few days and we made reservations for Ago's well in advance. When we arrived we were told there would still be a 20 minute wait. We requested the patio and they tried to shuffle us into the main dining room which was so loud you have to shout to hear anyone. We were put in a back corner of the patio that you have to wedge yourself into. When we were finally served it was by a very rude French server who acted like were were a bother. Maybe we were inter... read more

Large parties beware!! – We recently dined at Ago for a friend's birthday. We had actually dined there the week before and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately, our friend's brithday was dampered by the waiter insulting us by automatically filling in and totaling the gratuity on our credit card receipts. While most people do expect an automatic gratuity for large parties, they also expect to see it posted on the menu. You can imagine our surprise when the bill came and it only said "%" with an amount totaled at the bottom. We... read more

Ago's needs to learn to treat parties of 5 women as well as they treat the stars and celebrities that dine there. A couple of months ago we had a reservation for 8:30 and they did not seat us till almost 10PM. I begged for a round of free drinks for us girls while we were waiting at the small bar, they finally gave in. When the table was available they insisted to seat us in the back room. A definite no no for 5 beauties who wanted to be in the main dining room for the buzzy atmosphere of the place- it's not the food that ma... read more

got to be kidding – can't believe this restaurant is still around... if you like drinking wine from a cracked wine glass (with no apologies from staff) and like eating very bad food, keep going to Ago. if you like rude, rushed service, Ago's your place. have to say that it was good once... but that seems like a very long time AGO!

Best dinner experience in a while... – I went to Ago last week with a two girlfriends to celebrate one of their birthdays. My friend had heard about this place so we finally tried it. Can you say amazing? We had to wait a bit for our table and eventually we were sat in the wine room. This is in the back of the restaurant and kind of removed from the "scene". I asked that we be moved to a different table and after about 10 minutes, they moved us to the main dining room. We each had an appetizer (each were amazing...the tuna t... read more
