24 Hour Fitness has provided me and my family with an incredible fitness community, which has led to a huge improvement in our lifestyle.
These guys are taking advantage of their automatic payment systems to charge membership fees well after they shut their doors due to the Coronavirus. They closed all locations on 3/16 in my area and I was still charged for services for the month of April, on 4/8. They continued taking payments up to 30 days after they closed business, as well as cut their phone lines to the general public. The same as everyone else. Company charging fees while being unable to provide service. Promising "extra" days is nonsense. What good are "extra days" when you made the decision to cancel their membership.
24 Hr continues to bill after closing, now I am up to $1,200 for training not received. I have contacted them several times on their web site per their suggestion as they do not answer the phones. They send you a meaningless email that you can't even reply to. This is fraudulent and I will never go back to a place that treats their clientele this way. It looks as if others are going through the same thing. They should not cut off their nose to spite their face!!! It is time for consumer revolt to this company.
I was so frustrated that 24 Hour Fitness has not made customer service available to cancel a membership that I filed an official BBB complaint. I was advised on how to "expedite cancelling membership" which may be helpful to those who are also unable to get in touch with 24 Hour Fitness at this time. I signed up for a One Month free membership in march and a week into my trail membership I was charged $42.21 on March 16th. Then charged again $45.45 on April 6th and then again on April 16th for $42.21. I have not been to this gym since my first free month and was told by the sales associates that I "would not be charged anything" unless I wanted to stay at this gym. I have called the customer service line, only to receive an extremely long auto message claiming that they will not charge their customers during COVID-19 shut downs. I have already been charged for the month of April. 24 hour fitness has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. When the shelter in place order began they continued charging members and shut down their customer service center as well as turned off comments on social media. Any questions or complaints had to be sent via email which had over 3weeks response time. They came out with a blanket communication that offered extra days to the end of contracts to make up for the days lost however they never addresses what would be done for people without contract end dates.... read more
Has been closed since mid March or is now almost the end of April and was still charged both months even after they said payments will be frozen. Call centers have been shut down and emails aren't being responded to.
