About this business

This low-key Rick Bayless eatery is inspired by Mexican street taco stands. Bayless serves up creative tortas, sandwiches, and a number of caldos (soups), sure to warm anyone up on a cold winter day. The pozole is a healthier take on the traditional dish. The pozole is made with chicken instead of pork, and though it is usually served on weekends at most Mexican eateries, here it's served here daily. The ever-popular tortas are placed on a crunchy French bread that, while not the typical bread used in this traditional sandwi... read more

I don't understand how XOCO can be classified as 'fast food'. I just popped in last Tuesday for a snack while waiting for Frontera to reopen for dinner. I had the most amazing guacamole! It was studded with chicharron & plablano. They served it with chips and 2 really great salsas. Rick Bayless brings a whole new level of authentic old world, grandmother's Mexican flavors to the table most Americans aren't familiar with. I just wish he would expand to more cities. Knoxville TN wants you sir!

Xoco is Rick Bayless answer to fast casual. You walk in and get a table number from the host and then order from the front counter. The food is absolutely amazing from one of the world’s finest executive chefs. Everything I have tried is five stars and more. You can’t go wrong.

This place may be famous, but that's not why I love it: despite a few hiccups in the past, the food is always fabulous and the staff- ah, the staff makes it a the neighborhood restaurant that is a joy to return to! Muchas gracias amigos y amigas. :) I'll learn Spanish some day.

The atmosphere is not friendly. The staff does not smile when they greet you. We arrived at 2:30 pm when they had tables available, but they said we had to seat in the high seats area. During the whole time we were here, the tables remained unoccupied and available. It was not a busy time of the day. We told the lady when we ordered that it was our first time and we did not know the difference between the types of chocolate that she was offering. She did not offered any explanation about the two types of chocolate that we co... read more
